Zach LaVine's return to the Kings was fine, but both he and Sacramento need better
The Sacramento Kings finally got Zach LaVine back from injury, and he played perfectly fine, but he can do better than that.

Keon Ellis - Not listed on injury report
Ellis (thumb) isn't listed on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Mavericks.
Impact
Ellis sustained a left thumb injury in Sunday's loss to Milwaukee but is set to play Tuesday. In his three outings prior to Sunday's contest, the 25-year-old guard averaged 10.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 26.7 minutes per game. However, he'll likely see a decline in playing time with Zach LaVine back in action.

Keegan Murray - Won't play vs. Dallas
Murray (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Mavericks, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
Impact
Murray had to exit Sunday's matchup against the Bucks with a left ankle injury, and it will keep him from suiting up Tuesday night. Nique Clifford will be a candidate to start in the frontcourt in Murray's absence, with Doug McDermott also likely to pick up more playing time.

DeMar DeRozan - Regresses in blowout loss
DeRozan closed with 11 points (4-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-7 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Sunday's 115-98 loss to the Bucks.
Impact
DeRozan was pulled early once the game was out of hand, and that's a key reason for his reduced total Sunday evening. Although Zach LaVine came off the bench, he should return to the starting lineup in short order, shifting DeRozan back to his customary role with the first unit.

Russell Westbrook - Hits for 21 points in loss
Westbrook racked up 21 points (5-16 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 10-12 FT), six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and four steals in 38 minutes during Sunday's 115-98 loss to Milwaukee.
Impact
Westbrook will continue to staff the point guard position, as Zach LaVine's return will shift the lineup back to its original structure and send Precious Achiuwa to the bench. Westbrook's numbers have dipped over the past couple of weeks, but he registered his first 20-point total since Dec. 27 in the defeat.

Zach LaVine - Pours in 20 points in return
LaVine notched 20 points (6-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds and four assists over 36 minutes during Sunday's 115-98 loss to the Bucks.
Impact
Lavine came off the bench in his return to action, and the team put no cap restrictions on his minutes. Lavine looked every bit himself as he nailed 50 percent of his shots after missing nine games. The Kings have a back-to-back set this weekend, and it wouldn't be surprising to see LaVine scratched for one of those games as he continues to work his way back from the ankle injury.

Keon Ellis - Won't return vs. Milwaukee
Ellis won't return to Sunday's game against the Bucks due to a left thumb injury, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
Impact
Ellis logged just five minutes before picking up the thumb injury, and he'll finish with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and two rebounds. His next opportunity to suit up will come Tuesday against Dallas.

Keegan Murray - Won't return Sunday
Murray won't return to Sunday's game against the Bucks due to a left ankle injury, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
Impact
Murray landed on an opposing player's foot and injured his ankle before limping to the locker room with assistance. He'll finish with 12 points (6-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt), three rebounds and two blocks across 27 minutes. Nique Clifford will likely see increased playing time for the remainder of the game due to Murray being unavailable. His next opportunity to play will come Tuesday against Dallas.

Keegan Murray - Leaves for locker room Sunday
Murray exited to the locker room in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Bucks due to an apparent left ankle injury, Matt George of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.
Impact
Murray limped off the court and required assistance getting back to the locker room. If the 25-year-old forward is unable to return, Nique Clifford will likely see an uptick in minutes the rest of the way.

Zach LaVine - Won't start vs. Milwaukee
LaVine (ankle) won't start against the Bucks on Sunday, Deuce Mason of NBC Sports California reports.
Impact
LaVine is available to return from a nine-game absence due to a sprained left ankle, and although head coach Doug Christie said pregame he won't be on a minutes restriction, the veteran swingman will come off the bench. Still, his return will leave fewer minutes available for the likes of Keon Ellis, Nique Clifford, Malik Monk and Doug McDermott. Over 23 regular-season appearances in the 2025-26 campaign, LaVine has averaged 20.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32.8 minutes per contest.

Zach LaVine - Won't be limited Sunday
Head coach Doug Christie said pregame that LaVine (ankle) won't be on a minutes restriction in Sunday's matchup against the Bucks, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
Impact
LaVine will return from a nine-game absence due to a sprained left ankle and is expected to take on his usual workload against Milwaukee. With the veteran swingman back in action, there will be fewer minutes available for the likes of Keon Ellis, Malik Monk, Nique Clifford and Doug McDermott. Over 23 regular-season appearances thus far, LaVine has averaged 20.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32.8 minutes per contest.
