Impact
FRM has been able to secure a third entry in the Talladega event for Gilliland. Thanks to the young driver's sponsor and support, the No. 36 Ford will be rolled out for Gilliland for the GEICO 500 in April. Ruedebusch seems committed to keeping Gilliland involved in the full 36-race schedule, so it's looking like the part-time No. 36 car will be used for the young driver during those dates in the schedule where Gilliland cannot race in the team's No. 38 Ford.

Picks up five races with RWR
Gilliland will drive the No. 15 Ford for Rick Ware Racing in five races in 2023.
Impact
It was announced last week that Gilliland would be replaced by Zane Smith in the No. 38 car for Front Row Racing in six Cup Series races in 2023. Gilliland has been seeking other opportunities to find a ride to remain full-time in 2023 and landed on Rick Ware Racing's No. 15 charter. It works out as also another Ford organization for a Ford branded driver in Gilliland. The Cup Series sophomore will drive the No. 15 for RWR at Phoenix (March 12), Charlotte (May 28), Sonoma (June 11), Texas (Sept. 24), and Charlotte Roval (Oct. 8). Gilliland's only race without a car on the 2023 schedule is the Spring race at Talladega on April 23. Riley Herbst was already locked into driving the No. 15 car in that race. With just one race left to fill, another team may be willing to give Gilliland a ride in an open car with another chartered seat unlikely to be available for Talladega.

Not running full-time with FRM
Gilliland will only run 30 races in 2023 behind the wheel of the No. 38 Ford for Front Row Motorsports after the team decided to put Zane Smith in that car for six events this seas...
Impact
When Zane Smith signed back on to defend his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series title in 2023, it was announced that the team would look to get him some Cup Series starts. He will attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500 in the No. 36 car, but the team kind of did Gilliland dirty by announcing right before the start of the season that he will not drive in all the races for the team. Instead of running that open No. 36 car, FRM decided to take Gilliland out of the seat of their chartered No. 38 car in races at Phoenix (March 12), Talladega (April 23), Charlotte (May 28), Sonoma (June 11), Texas (Sept. 24), and Charlotte Roval (Oct. 8). If Gilliland were to win a race in the No. 38 car he would be ineligible to make the playoffs, unless he is able to find another ride for those six races. Some potential options would be the No. 15 for Rick Ware Racing or the No. 78 for Live Fast Motorsports, as both cars have had a rotation of drivers for the last few years.

New crew chief named for 2023
Front Row Motorsports announced that Gilliland will return to the No. 38 Ford in 2023 full-time and will have a new crew chief in Ryan Bergenty.
Impact
Gilliland is coming off his rookie season that featured a number of struggles along with a couple high points that included a fourth place finish at Indianapolis and a seventh place effort at the fall Talladega race. FRM overall took a step forward in 2022 as evidence by Michael McDowell posted 12 top-10 finishes behind the wheel of the team's No. 34 entry. Gilliland will hope for more of that type of success in 2023 with new crew chief Ryan Bergenty, who has been the car chief on the No. 34 car for the last two seasons.

Top-5 Finish at Indianapolis
Gilliland finished fourth in the Verizon 200 NASCAR Cup Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course Sunday.
Impact
Gilliland used good starting track position to race up front most of the way in this challenging road course race. The driver of the No. 38 Ford raced up to as high as sixth-place by the end of stage 1. From there, Gilliland would strengthen his grip on good track position and secure his first-career Top-5 finish. It was an encouraging performance for the 22-year-old rookie.

Wins Clean Harbors 150
Gilliland won the Clean Harbors 150 presented by Premier Chevy Dealers NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Knoxville Raceway Saturday night.
Impact
Gilliland was a Top-5 driver most of the night at the Knoxville oval. He would take the lead during stage 2 and win that segment of the event. Gilliland would go onto dominate from there, leading 58 total laps of the half-mile oval and securing the victory over John Hunter Nemechek. It was Gilliland's first-career win on the Knoxville dirt oval and his third-career victory.
