Back in action Friday Soderstrom (shoulder/head) is starting in left field and batting sixth Friday against the Guardians.

Impact Soderstrom sat the past two games after getting banged up on a dive attempt in left field Tuesday, but he's ready to go for Friday's series opener versus Cleveland. Through his first 29 games of the season, the 24-year-old is slashing .211/.298/.404 with three home runs, one stolen base, 18 RBI and 14 runs.

Impact Soderstrom landed hard trying to make a diving catch in left field Tuesday and will sit for the second straight contest. The Royals are also throwing left-hander Noah Cameron on Thursday, which could play a part in the lefty-hitting Soderstrom getting a second straight day out of the lineup. Carlos Cortes is starting in left and batting sixth.

Sitting Wednesday Soderstrom (shoulder/head) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Impact Soderstrom landed awkwardly on his right side after attempting to make a diving catch in left field Tuesday and was eventually taken out of the game. Manager Mark Kotsay said after the game that the 24-year-old hasn't displayed any signs of a concussion but is dealing with some soreness, per Martin Gallegos of MLB.com, and the A's will now opt to keep him on the bench Wednesday. Carlos Cortes will pick up a start in left field as a result and bat third.

Lifted early Tuesday Soderstrom was removed from Tuesday's game against the Royals with an apparent shoulder injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Impact Soderstrom landed awkwardly on his right shoulder while trying to make a diving catch in the fifth inning and needed a minute to regroup afterward. The A's made the call to pull him in the sixth and will presumably send him in for testing to determine the severity of his injury. Colby Thomas and Carlos Cortes stand to benefit from extra playing time if Soderstrom has to miss a start.
