Gives up pair of long balls Henry did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings in a 9-8 loss against the Athletics. He struck out four.
Impact Henry struggled to keep the ball in the park Tuesday, being taken yard by Nick Allen and Ramon Laureano for solo home runs in the third and fourth innings. After nabbing a pair of quality starts in his last two appearances, Henry was unable to make it through five innings against the league's fourth-worst scoring offense (3.74 runs scored per game). Henry is tentatively scheduled to take the mound Monday in a road matchup with the Phillies.

Diamondbacks lefty Tommy Henry takes the ball Tuesday against the Athletics' Kyle Muller The Arizona Diamondbacks continue their 3-game series in Oakland on Tuesday night.

Takes tough loss Henry (1-1) took the loss Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings against the Giants. He struck out two.
Impact Henry was solid against the Giants lineup. But the Diamondbacks couldn't score until the ninth inning. Henry went deeper than he had in any game this season, but still only picked up two strikeouts. He has just nine punchouts in 22.1 innings on the season.
MAY 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Logs quality start Saturday Henry did not factor in the decision against Washington on Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three batters over six innings.
Impact Henry was efficient in the outing, throwing 53 of 75 pitches for a strike and completing six frames for the first time in the majors this season. Despite this strong effort, the southpaw hasn't done much to make an impression in fantasy circles, as he's posted a 5.17 ERA and 7:7 K:BB across 15.2 innings. Henry's next start is tentatively lined up to come at home against San Francisco.
MAY 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Notches first win of season Henry (1-0) earned the win Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Rockies. He struck out three.
Impact Henry is still showing his inexperience, as this was just his eleventh big-league start dating back to last year. The southpaw has allowed seven runs over 9.2 innings this year, hardly a confidence-boosting track record for fantasy managers. However, this is a minuscule sample size, and the former 74th overall pick in the 2019 draft will have plenty more chances to prove himself.
APRIL 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Draws another start Henry is listed as Arizona's probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field.
Impact Though Triple-A Reno starter Brandon Pfaadt is gaining momentum for a move into the Arizona rotation, the Diamondbacks should still have spots available for both Pfaadt and Henry, as the team currently has four starters on the active roster at the moment with Madison Bumgarner having recently been released, Drey Jameson getting demoted to the minors and Zach Davies (oblique) on the injured list. Henry likely won't have a long leash, however, after he labored through 4.1 innings while giving up three runs on four hits and four walks against the Royals in a no-decision Monday. The southpaw doesn't make for an inspiring streaming option as he makes his second turn of the week in the thin air of Colorado.
APRIL 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Turns in shaky outing Henry did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks over 4.1 innings in a 5-4 victory over the Royals. He struck out one.
Impact This was Henry's first start of the season after getting called up from Triple-A Reno. The southpaw exited the game after throwing just 41 strikes on 73 pitches, and put pressure on the bullpen to throw 4.2 solid innings. The 25-year-old will also need to improve his strikeout-to-walk ratio in order to be a long-term starter in the big leagues. However, the former 74th overall draft pick will get at least a handful of more chances to redeem himself going forward.
APRIL 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled for start Henry was recalled from Triple-A Reno by the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Impact Henry will start Monday against the Royals, sliding into the rotation spot vacated by Madison Bumgarner. The left-hander has posted a 6.33 ERA over four starts at hitter-friendly Triple-A Reno this season but also has a 22:8 K:BB over 21.1 frames. Henry isn't a bad streaming option versus Kansas City and could remain in the rotation for a while if he pitches well.
APRIL 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Will join Arizona rotation Henry will take Madison Bumgarner's place in the Diamondbacks' starting rotation, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact Bumgarner was designated for assignment Thursday morning and Henry is going to get the first shot at that vacant rotation spot, which comes around again Monday versus the Royals. Brandon Pfaadt should soon be a consideration too, especially if Henry's early struggles at Triple-A Reno carry over onto the MLB scene. The 25-year-old holds an ugly 6.33 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB in 21.1 innings (four starts) this year with Reno and had a 5.36 ERA in nine big-league starts last season. He's not a reccomended fantasy streamer.
APRIL 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sent to minors The Diamondbacks optioned Henry to Triple-A Reno on Monday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact Henry's demotion leaves Ryne Nelson and Drey Jameson as the remaining candidates to open the season as Arizona's No. 5 starter. During his 15 innings in Cactus League play, Henry was unable to solve the control problems that hindered him during his first taste of the big leagues in 2022, as he issued seven walks. Despite his struggles this spring, the Diamondbacks aren't yet ready to pull the plug on developing him as a starter, so he'll head back to Triple-A to hone his repertoire.
MARCH 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Works into fifth inning Henry allowed two hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings in Sunday's spring start against Kansas City.
Impact Henry issued three walks and lamented he wasn't sharp in his first two innings, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. What helped settle him down was the Diamondbacks plating 10 runs in the bottom of the second, including nine off former D-back Zack Greinke. Henry is one of three pitchers remaining in major-league camp competing for the final rotation spot. After the organization sent prospect Brandon Pfaadt to minor-league camp, Henry, Drey Jameson and Ryne Nelson are left to compete.
MARCH 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Regrets one pitch Henry allowed four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six over 3.1 innings in Tuesday's spring start against the Giants.
Impact Henry told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com that he made a wrong decision on a 2-2 pitch that resulted in J.D. Davis' three-run home run. The left-hander, who is vying for the No. 5 starter job with Drey Jameson, Ryne Nelson and Brandon Pfaadt, regretted throwing a fastball hitter one fastball too many. "Just threw a good fastball hitter too many fastballs in one at-bat," Henry said. "I saw some things that would have suggested to throw other pitches and I still threw the heater." Henry had worked three scoreless frames before running into trouble in the fourth.

Logs four scoreless Henry allowed three runs and struck out three without walking a batter over four scoreless innings in Wednesday's spring start against the Rangers.
Impact Henry made his third Cactus League start and has improved after a rocky initial appearance. The key, according to manager Torey Lovullo, was the pitcher landing his offspeed stuff effectively. "Tommy was aggressive with a three-pitch mix," Lovullo told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. "He seemed like he could throw the breaking ball at any time to get him back in the count. He gave us four unbelievable innings." With this outing, Henry may have altered the narrative for the fifth starter's job, which was previously thought to be a competition between Drey Jameson and Ryne Nelson. Prospect Brandon Pfaadt, who starts Friday, is also in the mix.

Better in second outing Henry allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out four over three innings of relief in Friday's spring game against Seattle.
Impact Henry bounced back from an unpleasant performance his first time out in the Cactus League. He allowed five runs over 1.1 innings as a starter last Sunday. Even though Henry allowed a couple of runs and two extra-base hits over his first two innings, the left-hander improved and retired the side in order during his final inning. He told Jack Sommers of SI.com that the pitch clock had him huffing and puffing. Henry is in the mix for the No. 5 starter job.
MARCH 4, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Roughed up in spring debut Henry allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out two over 1.1 innings in Sunday's spring game against San Diego.
Impact Henry made it through the first inning, working around a two-out double, but was chased in the second frame after five of the first six batters reached base. That included a three-run home run allowed to Trent Grisham. Henry is part of a crew looking to win the fifth starter job.
FEBRUARY 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Vying for rotation spot Henry is expected to compete for the No. 5 starter job this spring, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.
Impact The top four spots are set, but the final rotation spot is up for grabs with Henry joining a group whose leading candidates are Ryne Nelson and Drey Jameson. The left-handed Henry made nine starts over the final two months of 2022 with mixed results. He posted a 5.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP while giving up 10 home runs over 47 innings (1.9 HR/9). Prospect Brandon Pfaadt is also in the mix, but a roster spot could hinge on a player being on the 40-man roster, which favors Henry.
FEBRUARY 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Pitches into seventh Henry tossed 6.1 innings, surrendering one run on three hits and a walk while striking out five in Monday's extra-inning loss to the Brewers.
Impact Henry gave up a solo homer to Christian Yelich in the bottom of the second, accounting for the only blemish on his line Monday. The outing was his second quality start of the season over nine outings and the first time he'd allowed less than five runs since Aug. 26. Henry had an up-and-down campaign, producing a 5.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 36 punchouts over 47 innings in nine starts.
OCTOBER 4, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets another start to close season Henry is scheduled to start Monday's game in Milwaukee.
Impact He'll be making a second straight turn through the rotation to close out the season with Madison Bumgarner (rest) and Ryne Nelson (shoulder) having been shut down. Over his prior eight starts with Arizona this season, Henry compiled a 5.98 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 31:20 K:BB across 40.2 innings.
OCTOBER 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles with long ball Henry registered a no-decision during Friday's 6-5 loss to San Francisco, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
Impact Henry fell victim to the long ball Friday, permitting homers in each of the second, third and fourth innings to account for four of the five runs on his ledger. Additionally, he issued at least three free passes for the third time in four starts, though he was able to induce an impressive 15 swinging strikes on 82 pitches en route to six strikeouts -- his second-highest total in eight turns. Henry possesses a 5.98 ERA and 1.57 WHIP with 31 strikeouts in 40.2 innings, and it's unclear if he'll get another start this season.
SEPTEMBER 24, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Called up ahead of start Henry was recalled as expected ahead of his start Friday against the Giants.
Impact The rookie lefty has made seven starts this season but has yet to find much success. He owns a 5.50 ERA and 1.53 WHIP, striking out just 15.5 percent of opposing batters while walking 10.6 percent. Tyler Holton was optioned to clear space on the roster.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Will start Friday Henry will be recalled from Triple-A Reno to start Friday against the Giants, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact The 25-year-old will make his eighth start of the season for the Diamondbacks on Friday, filling the rotation spot of an injured Ryne Nelson (shoulder). Henry made his big-league debut in early August and has a 5.50 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 25:17 K:BB across 36 innings. It may only be a spot start for the left-hander since Arizona still has five healthy rotation options despite Nelson being on the injured list.
