Grant McCray - Belts first big-league homer
McCray went 2-for-3 with a home run, an additional RBI and a walk in a 6-0 victory versus Atlanta on Thursday.
Impact
McCray plated San Francisco's first run on a bunt single in the second inning. His second RBI of the contest came in an entirely different fashion, as he smashed a 404-foot solo shot to center field in the sixth frame. Thursday marked just the second game of McCray's career -- he went 0-for-4 in his MLB debut Wednesday. He hit as many 23 homers in a season in the minors (in 2022), and McCray also has plenty of speed, as he swiped 53 bags in High-A ball in 2023. That's a tantalizing combination from a fantasy perspective, though managers keeping an eye on him should note that he's also struggled to make contact throughout his time as a pro.

Tyler Fitzgerald - Continues to produce
Fitzgerald went 1-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases Thursday in a 6-0 win against Atlanta.
Impact
Fitzgerald began the Giants' half of the first inning with a single, which he followed with a steal of second and third base. The rookie then added a sacrifice fly in the second frame. Fitzgerald has been an incredible pickup for fantasy managers astute enough to claim him off the waiver wire -- through 61 games, he's slashing .311/.365/.617 with 14 homers, 27 RBI, 37 runs and 14 stolen bases. He isn't showing any signs of slowing down, batting .333 (20-for-60) with five home runs and seven thefts through 14 games in August.

Casey Schmitt - Snaps slump Thursday
Schmitt went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 6-0 win against Atlanta.
Impact
Schmitt increased San Francisco's lead from 2-0 to 4-0 with his two-run blast in the sixth inning. He finished the game with three hits -- as many as he had tallied over his previous 12 games and 31 at-bats combined. Schmitt's five homers through 80 plate appearances this year are as many as he hit over 277 plate appearances in 2023, but he's also carrying a poor .208/.225/.442 slash line on the season.

Logan Webb - Shuts down Atlanta
Webb (11-8) earned the win over Atlanta on Thursday, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over 7.1 scoreless innings.
Impact
All four of the hits against Webb were singles, and he didn't allow a runner to reach third base until there were two outs in the eighth inning. The right-hander registered his fourth consecutive win, and he has three quality starts during that span. Webb has surrendered just two runs while posting a 25:6 K:BB across 29 innings during the four-start stretch.

Spencer Bivens - Back in majors
The Giants recalled Bivens from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Bivens was optioned to Double-A Richmond following his last MLB appearance Aug. 4, but he was later promoted to Triple-A for his most recent outing, during which he allowed two earned runs in one inning. He'll now rejoin San Francisco to give the Giants a multi-inning option out of the bullpen while Randy Rodriguez (elbow) is on the injured list.

Randy Rodríguez - Goes on IL with elbow inflammation
The Giants placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right elbow inflammation, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Rodriguez will be eligible to return before the end of the month, but given the nature of the injury it's difficult to say at this point whether he has a chance to be ready by that date. Spencer Bivens has been recalled in a corresponding move.

Michael Conforto - Getting day off versus lefty
Conforto is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.
Impact
Conforto will hit the bench for the second time in the series while Atlanta sends another southpaw in Max Fried to the bump. Jerar Encarnacion will spell Conforto in left field.

Brett Wisely - Sitting against southpaw
Wisely is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.
Impact
With southpaw Max Fried toeing the rubber for Atlanta, the lefty-hitting Wisely will exit the starting nine. Platoon mate Casey Schmitt will check in for Wisely at the keystone.

LaMonte Wade - Getting day off vs. lefty

Patrick Bailey - Resting up Thursday
Bailey is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.
Impact
Bailey will get some maintenance as San Francisco and Atlanta wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Curt Casali will draw the start behind the dish after Bailey caught each of the past five days while going 2-for-20 at the plate.

Grant McCray - Hitless in debut
McCray went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Wednesday's 13-2 loss to Atlanta.
Impact
McCray's major-league debut was a forgettable one for both him and his team. The outfielder slashed .272/.347/.471 over 47 games with Triple-A Sacramento this year after earning a midseason promotion from Double-A Richmond. McCray's strong defense makes him a candidate to play regularly in center field. The Giants moved Heliot Ramos to left field and Michael Conforto to designated hitter, which could be the usual alignment versus right-handers moving forward, as long as McCray plays well enough to keep his spot in the lineup.

ROTOWIRE
Tyler Fitzgerald - Goes yard again Wednesday
Fitzgerald went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 13-2 loss to Atlanta.
Impact
Fitzgerald continues to show no signs of slowing down -- he's 19-for-56 (.339) with five homers and four doubles over 13 games in August. His blast Wednesday had little impact on the game, as Atlanta had already established a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning before he responded. Overall, Fitzgerald has 14 homers, 12 stolen bases, 26 RBI, 37 runs scored and a .313/.369/.626 slash line through 195 plate appearances.
