J.D. Davis - Nursing low-grade ankle sprain
Davis confirmed after Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Cardinals that he's dealing with a Grade 1 right ankle sprain, which he suspects will keep him out of the lineup for 3-to-10 days...
Impact
The low-grade ankle sprain is considered a best-case scenario for Davis, who picked up what appeared to be a more serious injury in Tuesday's 11-3 win. The Giants are hoping that Davis shows enough improvement by the weekend to avoid a stint on the injured list, though he's certainly not out of the woods yet. David Villar and Casey Schmitt will likely pick up most of the reps at third base for however long Davis is sidelined.

Mitch Haniger - Needs surgery for fractured forearm
Haniger will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a fractured right forearm, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact
It's something which could cause him to miss the bulk of the rest of the season, but a clearer timetable for Haniger's return is expected Friday. The veteran outfielder suffered the injury when he was struck by a Jack Flaherty pitch during Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.

J.D. Davis - No IL move for now
Davis (ankle) was not placed on the injured list prior to the Giants' game versus the Cardinals on Wednesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Davis suffered a sprained right ankle in Tuesday's contest in St. Louis and is not in Wednesday's lineup. The injury could still ultimately result in an IL move, but the Giants have decided to push that decision back until Friday.

Ross Stripling - Makes rehab start in Arizona
Stripling (back) made a rehab appearance Tuesday with the Giants' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate, covering two innings and striking out two while allowing three runs...
Impact
The rehab start marked Stripling's first game action in just under a month while he works his way back from a strained lower back. Stripling will likely settle back into a spot in the Giants rotation once he builds up to around 75 pitches or five innings, but it could take him another rehab start or two to get there.

Keaton Winn - Optioned to Triple-A
Winn was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Winn registered a save in his first major-league appearance Tuesday in St. Louis, allowing one run over the final four innings of the Giants' 11-3 win. He wasn't going to be available to pitch for a few days, so the team has decided his roster spot is better utilized elsewhere.

Luke Jackson - Picks up win Tuesday
Jackson (1-0) allowed a hit and struck out three in a scoreless inning to earn the win in Tuesday's 11-3 victory over the Cardinals.
Impact
Starter Alex Cobb went just four innings, with Jackson pitching the fifth before Keaton Winn converted a four-inning save. Jackson has done well so far, allowing one run, four hits and a walk with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings since returning from Tommy John surgery. The Giants' late-inning mix is pretty much set, but the right-hander could work his way into some opportunities for holds if he continues to pitch well.

Joc Pederson - Takes seat Wednesday
Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact
As usual, the lefty-hitting Pederson will duck out of the starting nine while the opposition brings a southpaw (Jordan Montgomery) to the hill. Wilmer Flores will serve as the Giants' designated hitter in place of Pederson.

Mitch Haniger - Placed on 10-day IL
Haniger (forearm) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Impact
Haniger was hit by a pitch and suffered a fractured forearm in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals and he will now be unavailable for the foreseeable future. Although he's eligible to return in 10 days, that seems very unlikely considering the specific injury he sustained. More information on the outfielder's status will likely be provided after Haniger undergoes additional imaging. In the meantime, Luis Matos was called up from Triple-A Sacramento and will make his major-league debut Wednesday versus St. Louis.

Michael Conforto - Sitting Wednesday
Conforto is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against St. Louis, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Conforto will take a seat after he went 4-for-6 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-3 victory. Mike Yastrzemski will slide over to right field while Luis Matos makes his MLB debut in center field and bats second versus the Cardinals.

J.D. Davis - Out of lineup
Davis (ankle) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Davis left Tuesday's contest early with a sprained right ankle and his status is up in the air moving forward. Manager Gabe Kapler said after the game that he wasn't sure if Davis would need to be placed on the 10-day injured list or not, but David Villar was called up from Triple-A Sacramento and will start at third base in Wednesday's matchup with St. Louis.

David Villar - Returns to majors
Villar was called up from Triple-A Sacramento and he will start at third base and bat eighth Wednesday versus the Cardinals, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Villar will return to the major-league roster after being sent down May 30. The 26-year-old has struggled to a .135 average with four homers, 11 RBI, 10 runs scored and a stolen base over 96 at-bats in 32 games with the Giants this season. With J.D. Davis (ankle) potentially set for a stint on the injured list, Villar could see a lot of run in San Francisco's lineup for the time being.

Luis Matos - Called up, starting Wednesday
Matos was called up from Triple-A Sacramento and he will start in center field and bat second Wednesday versus the Cardinals, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Matos is set to make his major-league debut Wednesday after posting a .389 batting average with seven homers, 20 RBI, 21 runs scored and six stolen bases over 108 at-bats in 24 games with Sacramento this season. With Mitch Haniger (forearm) expected to miss a significant amount of time, Matos could carve out a role for himself in the Giants' lineup if he can remain hot in the majors.

ROTOWIRE
Patrick Bailey - Swats third homer
Bailey went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 11-3 win over the Cardinals.
Impact
He launched a solo shot off Genesis Cabrera in the sixth inning, going back-to-back with Mike Yastrzemski to blow open what had been a 6-2 game. Bailey continues to solidify his hold on the Giants' starting job behind the plate, and since his promotion in mid-May he's slashing .323/.353/.585 through 70 plate appearances with three homers and 16 RBI. His 3:19 BB:K and .419 BABIP suggest there will be regression coming for his batting average, however -- which wouldn't be a shocking development for a 24-year-old who batted .225 in High-A only last year.

ROTOWIRE
Mike Yastrzemski - Mashes seventh homer
Yastrzemski went 1-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 11-3 rout of the Cardinals.
Impact
He took Genesis Cabrera deep in the sixth inning, giving Yastrzemski his first long ball in June. It's been a rough month so far for the veteran outfielder, who's batting just .179 (5-for-28) in his last 10 games, but on the season he has a respectable .767 OPS with seven homers, 18 RBI and 30 runs through 48 contests.

ROTOWIRE
Keaton Winn - Notches four-inning save
Winn recorded his first career save in Tuesday's 11-3 win over the Cardinals, allowing one run on one hit and three walks over four innings while striking out two.
Impact
Making his first career big-league appearance, Winn entered the game with the Giants ahead 6-2 and gave the rest of the bullpen a breather, tossing 55 pitches (30 strikes) to finish out the rout. Despite his successful debut, the 25-year-old right-hander could be shipped back to Triple-A Sacramento in favor of a fresh arm.
