Casey Schmitt - Not starting Friday Schmitt is not in the starting lineup versus the Dodgers on Friday.
Impact Schmitt will take a seat after going just 1-for-11 over the series against the Cardinals. The rookie infielder will open the game on the bench with Brandon Crawford starting at shortstop and Wilmer Flores lined up at third base.

Mitch Haniger - Out 10 weeks after surgery Haniger underwent successful surgery on his fractured right forearm, and he's expected to miss 10 weeks while recovering, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact As Baggarly notes, that puts Haniger back with San Francisco right around the end of August. The outfielder suffered the injury after being hit squarely in the forearm versus the Cardinals over the weekend. Assuming a clean recovery, Haniger could help San Francisco and fantasy rosters over the final month of the 2023 campaign.

Tecmo Bo, 'Jon Dowd,' Vick: Ranking the top 10 sports video game characters
Alex Wood - Likely to return Saturday Wood (back) is likely to return from the injured list to start Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact John Brebbia is slated to serve as the Giants' opener Friday and Logan Webb is locked in for Sunday. It should be Wood who fills the TBD in Los Angeles on Saturday, assuming there are no sudden complications with the back injury that has sidelined him since the beginning of June. He tossed three innings of one-run ball in a 53-pitch rehab start last Sunday at Triple-A Sacramento.
JUNE 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
John Brebbia - Opener again Friday Brebbia will serve as the Giants' opener Friday versus the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact Brebbia is basically now part of the Giants' rotation -- his last three appearances have been starts -- but he'll likely again pitch only an inning or two before giving way to a parade of other relievers. The 33-year-old righty carries a strong 3.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB in 27.2 innings (28 appearances) for the season.
JUNE 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Thairo Estrada - Swipes bag in extra-inning win Estrada went 2-for-5 with two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 extra-inning win over the Cardinals.
Impact Estrada twice put the Giants ahead with an RBI single -- once in the first inning and again in the 10th. He's gone 11-for-40 (.275) over nine games since returning from a wrist injury earlier in June. The second baseman has provided ample power and speed (nine home runs, 15 steals) while slashing .296/.347/.485 over 251 plate appearances this season.
JUNE 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tyler Rogers - Snags first win Rogers (1-4) pitched a perfect inning and struck out one to earn the extra-inning win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Impact The Giants were down to their last out at one point, but Mike Yastrzemski hit a two-run home run to tie it in the ninth inning. Rogers kept it tied, and the team rallied again in the 10th. Rogers has strung together 8.1 consecutive scoreless innings, and it's been 12.2 frames since he last gave up an earned run. He's worked as a setup man to great effect with a 1.65 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 25:11 K:BB, 13 holds, two saves and a blown save over 32.2 innings this season. His 3.0 BB/9 and 3.63 FIP are both the worst marks of his career, however, which suggests he could experience regression.
JUNE 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Camilo Doval - Bags 18th save Doval struck out two and worked around a walk in a scoreless inning en route to claiming his 18th save of the season Wednesday in the Giants' 8-5 extra-inning win over the Cardinal...
Impact The Giants spotted Doval a three-run lead heading into the bottom of the 10th to provide the closer with plenty of cushion as he navigated a relatively low-stress save situation. Doval has now converted 18 of 19 save chances to date to go with sterling ratios (1.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 24.4 K-BB%), making him one of the more valuable fantasy closers so far this season.
JUNE 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Anthony DeSclafani - Unravels in second inning DeSclafani did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over three innings against the Cardinals. He struck out seven.
Impact Things were looking good for DeSclafani early on after the right-hander struck out the side in the first inning to kick things off. He was unable to carry that momentum into the next frame, however, giving up singles to three of the first four batters he faced in the inning before surrendering a grand slam to Tommy Edman to put San Francisco in an early hole. DeSclafani was fortunate to escape with a no-decision after losing five of his last six decisions coming in and he's now allowed 12 runs through three starts this month.
JUNE 15, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Mike Yastrzemski - Hits game-tying bomb in ninth Yastrzemski went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Cardinals.
Impact Yastrzemski played the role of hero in the top of the ninth, launching a two-run home run off Giovanny Gallegos to tie the game at five run apiece. The center fielder also had an RBI single in the seventh inning to bring the Giants within two runs and he now has five RBI over his last two games, to go along with four runs scored. Yastrzemski has also homered in back-to-back games after hitting just one long ball in May.

J.D. Davis - Nursing low-grade ankle sprain Davis confirmed after Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Cardinals that he's dealing with a Grade 1 right ankle sprain, which he suspects will keep him out of the lineup for 3-to-10 days...
Impact The low-grade ankle sprain is considered a best-case scenario for Davis, who picked up what appeared to be a more serious injury in Tuesday's 11-3 win. The Giants are hoping that Davis shows enough improvement by the weekend to avoid a stint on the injured list, though he's certainly not out of the woods yet. David Villar and Casey Schmitt will likely pick up most of the reps at third base for however long Davis is sidelined.

Mitch Haniger - Needs surgery for fractured forearm Haniger will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a fractured right forearm, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact It's something which could cause him to miss the bulk of the rest of the season, but a clearer timetable for Haniger's return is expected Friday. The veteran outfielder suffered the injury when he was struck by a Jack Flaherty pitch during Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.
