James Tibbs - Already up to High-A Tibbs was promoted from Single-A San Jose to High-A Eugene on Tuesday.
Impact Tibbs, selected 13th overall in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, was assigned to Single-A on Aug. 8 without playing any rookie-league games. He quickly proved himself at San Jose, going 17-for-41 (.415) with four doubles, two RBI and nine runs scored over nine contests. He'll get a new challenge at High-A, which is likely where he'll close out 2024, though his 26.2 percent strikeout rate from Single-A will be something to keep an eye on as he moves up the ranks.

Patrick Bailey - Lands on injured list The Giants placed Bailey on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right oblique strain, retroactive to Aug. 19.
Impact After initially labeling Bailey's side injury as minor tightness, an MRI revealed Tuesday that the 25-year-old catcher suffered a strained oblique. Curt Casali will now take over as the Giants' primary catcher while Bailey is out, and Jackson Reetz will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to give the team some depth behind the plate.

Impact The transaction was a procedural move, as Flores had already been ruled out for the season after undergoing a procedure on his right knee earlier this month. The Giants activated Ethan Small (oblique) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento. The 33-year-old Flores slashed .206/.277/.318 with four home runs, 26 RBI and 19 runs over 242 plate appearances before being shut down for the season.

Impact Beck has now covered three innings in each of his three rehab starts with Sacramento, logging 5.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB. According to MLB.com, Beck is scheduled to make his next start for Sacramento on Friday and is likely to work 4-to-5 innings. Though Beck appears to be getting stretched out for a traditional starting role as he works his way back from an the upper right arm aneurysm that he had addressed surgically in early March, the Giants likely won't have a spot available in the rotation for the right-hander once he completes his rehab assignment.

Carson Whisenhunt - Overcoming foot injury Whisenhunt has made two rehab starts for Single-A San Jose since landing on Triple-A Sacramento's 7-day injured list July 22 with a sore foot, MLB.com reports.
Impact Whisenhunt covered two scoreless innings last Tuesday and three scoreless innings Sunday, striking out six batters while allowing one hit and three walks between the two outings. The Giants haven't revealed the next step for Whisenhunt, but he could be ready to rejoin the Sacramento rotation later this week. The left-hander owns a 5.84 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 102:43 K:BB in 77 innings at the Triple-A level this season.
