Erik Miller - Takes fourth loss
Miller (3-4) allowed three runs on a hit and two walks while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning to take the loss Wednesday versus the White Sox.
Impact
Miller loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning, and Spencer Bivens allowed all three of those runners to score. That left Miller with his first loss since July 22. The southpaw has allowed eight runs over 12 innings since the All-Star break, adding an 18:10 K:BB in that span. He's now at a 3.93 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 66:32 K:BB with 12 holds and three blown saves over 55 innings this season. He's earned just one hold since the start of July, so he's not currently in the mix for steady high-leverage chances.

Logan Webb - Tosses eight efficient frames
Webb allowed two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out six batters over eight innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.
Impact
Webb got through his eight frames on just 93 pitches, 65 of which were strikes. He collected 15 whiffs among those offerings and logged his third straight quality start -- a stretch during which he's given up just three runs over 22.2 innings. Webb had a four-start winning streak snapped Wednesday due largely to a quiet San Francisco offense, but he's 5-1 since the All-Star break and hasn't given up a homer in any of his past six starts.

Camilo Doval - Expected back on road trip
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday that he expects Doval to be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento sometime during the team's Aug. 23-29 road trip, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports...
Impact
What role Doval would fill has not yet been determined, as Ryan Walker has been excellent since taking over the closer role. Since being demoted to Sacramento, Doval has allowed two runs with a 5:1 K:BB over four innings of work. Just one free pass is encouraging to see, as Doval's 13.3 percent walk rate was a major reason why the Giants opted to send him down. When the former closer does rejoin the big-league bullpen, he could work in low-leverage spots initially.

Michael Conforto - Getting afternoon off
Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
With southpaw Garrett Crochet toeing the rubber for the White Sox, the lefty-hitting Conforto will head to the bench in the series finale. Casey Schmitt will replace Conforto in the lineup as the Giants' designated hitter.

Mike Yastrzemski - Getting day off against lefty
Yastrzemski is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Yastrzemski will hit the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Michael Conforto and LaMonte Wade while the White Sox send southpaw Garrett Crochet to the hill for the series finale. The Giants haven't been as proactively shielding Yastrzemski from left-handers as they have with Conforto and Wade; Yastrzemski was included in the lineup in each of the club's previous five matchups with southpaw starters or bulk relievers.

Grant McCray - Handling full-time role
McCray will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
The lefty-hitting McCray has now started in each of the Giants' seven games following his call-up from Triple-A Sacramento last Wednesday, including three matchups with left-handed pitchers. McCray has batted .273 with three extra-base hits (one home run, two doubles) over his first six starts, but a 43.5 percent strikeout rate suggests rougher times could be ahead for the rookie once his .455 BABIP normalizes.

Jerar Encarnación - Falls into platoon role
Encarnacion will start in right field and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Earlier this month, Encarnacion appeared to have taken hold of a full-time role while dabbling between designated hitter and the corner outfield, but he looks to have moved into a short-side platoon role following Grant McCray's promotion from Triple-A Sacramento last Wednesday. Each of the right-handed-hitting Encarnacion's last three starts have come against left-handed pitching, while he's been excluded from the lineup in each of the Giants' last four matchups with right-handed pitchers.

LaMonte Wade - Sitting against lefty
Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
With the White Sox sending southpaw Garrett Crochet to the bump, the lefty-hitting Wade will give way to the right-handed-hitting Mark Canha at first base in the series finale. Of Wade's 296 plate appearances on the season, only 34 have come against left-handed pitching.

Curt Casali - Filling in for Bailey at top catcher
Casali will start at catcher and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Casali will start behind the dish for the third game in a row after going 3-for-6 with a walk, three runs and an RBI in the first two contests of the series. With Patrick Bailey (oblique) going on the injured list Tuesday, Casali looks poised to operate as the Giants' clear No. 1 catcher for the time being.

Ryan Walker - Locks down second save
Walker picked up his second save of the season in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the White Sox after striking out the side in the ninth inning.
Impact
Walker needed just 11 pitches to strike out all three batters he faced in the ninth. He's been nothing short of spectacular since being named the team's new closer Aug. 10, allowing just an unearned run while posting an 11:2 K:BB over five innings. Jordan Hicks picked up the save Monday night and figures to be the fill-in closer whenever Walker is unavailable, but Walker seems to have firm grip on the role for a team who is still in the wild card hunt. The 28-year-old is putting together an incredible season as a whole, posting a 2.07 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 82:15 K:BB in 65.1 innings to go along with two saves, 22 holds and eight wins.

Robbie Ray - Dominates versus White Sox
Ray (3-2) got the win over the White Sox on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits while striking out nine over 6.2 innings.
Impact
Ray had one of his best starts since returning from Tommy John surgery. It was his longest outing of the season and also the first time he didn't walk anybody. He also tied his season-high with nine strikeouts and retired 12 of the last 14 batters he faced, including two strikeouts in the seventh before he was eventually pulled with two outs. Ray has certainly shown more good than bad while returning from injury, posting a 4.88 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB in 27.2 innings. He lines up to face the Brewers on the road to begin next week for the Giants.

Heliot Ramos - On base three times
Ramos went 1-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the White Sox.
Impact
Ramos walked with the bases loaded in the third and then added on in the fifth with an RBI single. He now has four RBI over his last three games and has at least a hit in six of his last seven games. Ramos also managed to work multiple walks in a game for the first time since June 14 Tuesday night. He continues to provide a spark towards the top of the Giants order, slashing 280/.339/.488 with 18 homers, 60 RBI, 37 runs, four steals and a 31:104 BB:K in 381 plate appearances.
