INJURIES

Saddled with loss Suarez (2-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Rangers after giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks across five innings.
Impact The 26-year-old pitched well for most of the evening but surrendered two home runs to account for all three of the earned runs against him. Suarez was pulled in the sixth inning after the first two batters reached via a single and an error, and both runners came around to score as unearned tallies with two outs. The left-hander has yet to give up more than three earned runs in a start this season, though his 4.63 ERA remains unimpressive. Suarez was never going to replicate his performance from last season -- when he had a 1.36 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 107:33 K:BB over 106 innings -- but he's still been below expectations early in 2022.

Quality start in win Suarez (2-0) earned the win and allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk, tossing six innings while striking out three in a 7-3 victory Wednesday over Colorado.
Impact Suarez allowed a couple of runs in the third and a solo home run to C.J. Cron in the sixth. Otherwise, he was effective, relying on balls in play and the defense behind him. It was the longest start of the season for the lefty and he threw 97 pitches. Through four starts, the 26-year-old has unimpressive numbers with a 4.42 ERA and 8:12 BB:K in 18.1 innings but the Phillies have managed to win each time he's taken the mound. His next start will likely be early next week against Texas.

Tosses 4.2 innings Saurez allowed one run on four hits and three walks over 4.2 frames in Friday's 4-2 win over Milwaukee. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.
Impact The lone run to score against Suarez was Hunter Renfroe's sacrifice fly in the third frame. He threw 55 of 89 pitches for strikes and forced eight whiffs in the outing. The 26-year-old southpaw is now sporting a 4.38 ERA with a 9:7 K:BB through 12.1 innings this season. Suarez is projected to start at home against the Rockies next week.

Earns first win of season Suarez (1-0) earned the win Saturday against the Marlins after giving up two runs on six hits and three walks while fanning four across five innings.
Impact Suarez lasted only 2.2 innings and tossed 63 pitches in the season opener, but he improved his efficiency in this one with 78 pitches (49 strikes) while ending just three outs shy of what would've been his first quality start of the campaign. Suarez posted a blistering 1.36 ERA through 106 innings last season, and while he has recorded a 5.87 ERA over his first two appearances in 2022, this was clearly a step in the right direction. His next scheduled start is tabbed for April 22 against the Brewers at home.

Early exit Monday Suarez didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 5-4 win over the Mets, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He struck out one.
Impact All three runs scored in the first inning, and while Suarez settled down after that, he still got lifted after 63 pitches (40 strikes). A Phillies' rally in the bottom of the eighth took him off the hook for a loss. Suarez will look to rebound in his next start, scheduled for Saturday in Miami.

Not expecting any delays Suarez expects to be ready for the start of the season despite visa issues delaying his arrival at camp, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Impact Suarez didn't arrive until Thursday, raising speculation that he wouldn't have time to fully build up before the start of the regular season. He was able to throw bullpen sessions before leaving Venezuela, however, and he believes he won't be delayed. It's possible the team has different ideas about his readiness, but any potential delay shouldn't last particularly long.

Visa issues resolved Suarez's visa issues have been resolved, and he arrived at camp Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Impact Suarez will be behind schedule after missing the first few days of camp, but exactly where he stands in his throwing progression remains to be seen. It's possible he's on a pitch count for his first start or two, but it seems likely that he'll be at full strength not long after Opening Day. That's good news for the Phillies, who may be without Zack Wheeler (shoulder) for at least a turn or two.

Could arrive in camp soon The Phillies hope Suarez (visa issues) will be in camp during the week of March 14, but he will be behind schedule when he arrives, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Impact President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Sunday that the team hopes Suarez will arrive this upcoming week, but that still seems up in the air. It seems unlikely that Suarez will be ready to operate like a traditional starter the first time through the rotation.
MARCH 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
May not be ready for Opening Day Suarez may not be ready for Opening Day due to visa issues, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Impact Suarez was excellent across multiple roles for the Phillies in 2021, and he spent part of the season as the team's closer. However, he ended the campaign in the rotation and completed at least six innings in six of his last eight appearances while posting an excellent 1.24 ERA in that span. Reputable Phillies prospect analyst Matt Winkelman attributed this report to Gelb, and if Suarez's absence does ultimately stretch into the regular season it will leave the Phillies with a shorthanded rotation as Zach Eflin (knee) is also likely to be sidelined to begin the campaign.

Dazzles in final 2021 start Suarez (8-5) shut out the Marlins over seven innings to claim the win Friday in the Phillies' 5-0 triumph. He scattered six hits and a walk and struck out a season-high nine batter...
Impact The Phillies fell short in their bid to leapfrog Atlanta in the National League East standings in the final week of the season, but Suarez proved to be a revelation for the club upon converting from the bullpen to the rotation in early August. Over 12 starts, he submitted a 1.51, 1.08 WHIP and 65:19 K:BB in 65.2 innings. Though the Phillies deliberately limited his pitch counts in some of those early starts while he was building up his workload, Suarez was a workhorse down the stretch, covering at least six frames in each of his final five starts. He's not only secured a rotation spot for the Phillies heading into 2022, but he may even be a viable SP3 option in fantasy drafts.

Shuts out Pirates Suarez (7-5) picked up the win Saturday, scattering four hits in a complete game shutout of the Pirates in a 3-0 victory. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
Impact The 26-year-old southpaw put together the best start of his career, needing only 97 pitches (63 strikes) to go the distance for the first time. Suarez faced the minimum number of batters through six innings thanks to a couple double plays, and Pittsburgh never got a runner into scoring position all afternoon. Suarez has reeled off four straight quality starts and five in his last seven outings, posting a dazzling 1.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 45:8 K:BB through 44 innings over that stretch.
