INJURIES

Coughs up three runs Sandoval allowed three runs on four hits and two walks over five innings in Sunday's win over the Rays. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.
Impact Sandoval cruised through four innings without allowing a hit before Brandon Lowe knocked a solo homer off him in the fifth. He was then charged with two runs in the sixth after Mike Mayers gave up a three-run shot to Ji-Man Choi. After totaling just 11.1 innings through his first four outings, the 6-foot-3 southpaw has gone at least five innings in each of his last six appearances. He's sporting a 3.89 ERA and a 46:17 K:BB through 44 innings. Sandoval is projected to face Baltimore at home next week.

Strikes out nine in win Sandoval (2-2) allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine in 5.2 innings. He earned the win Saturday versus Detroit.
Impact Sandoval got into a bit of trouble in the sixth inning, and southpaw was pulled with two outs in the frame as Detroit had a sequence of four right-handed hitters due up. He has yet to allow more than two earned runs in a start this season. The southpaw has a 3.69 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across 39 innings. He's now started his last six appearances -- it appears Sandoval has solidified a spot in the rotation. He projects to face Tampa Bay next weekend.

Tosses quality start in win Sandoval (1-2) got the win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings.
Impact Sandoval put together his second straight quality start and actually picked up the win as opposed to his last time out. He allowed the Diamondbacks to get on the board in the fourth on an RBI single by Pavin Smith and then was eventually pulled after walking two batters to begin the seventh, one of which would come around to score for his second earned run of the day. His changeup was super effective, as he generated 10 of his 13 whiffs with the offspeed pitch. The 24-year-old now owns a 3.51 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB over 33.1 innings and has a another favorable matchup coming up this week against the Tigers.

Takes loss despite quality start Sandoval (0-2) allowed three earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out 10 across six innings, taking the loss Sunday to the Mariners.
Impact Sandoval surrendered a home run by Donovan Walton to lead off the third inning. Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com, he induced 32 swinging strikes in the contest -- the most by any Angels pitcher in a single game since the pitch-tracking era began in 2008. Prior to his ten strikeout performance, Sandoval totaled four punchouts only twice. The 24-year-old has a 3.95 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP with 27 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. He has posted a quality start in his last three outings. The Angels have rocked a six-man rotation at times and Sandoval has been in and out of the rotation.

Confirmed as Sunday's starter Sandoval is listed as the Angels' starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact All signs were pointing toward Sandoval taking the ball Sunday, with manager Joe Maddon announcing earlier in the week that he would replace Jose Quintana (shoulder) in the rotation for the time being. Now he's officially slated to take the hill for the series finale. The southpaw has made six major-league appearances (three starts) this season, posting a 3.80 ERA to go along with a 17:10 K:BB across 21.1 innings.

Impact Sandoval has previously made three starts for Los Angeles this season, including one last Thursday against Oakland. The young southpaw turned in the best outings of his young career versus the Athletics, tossing five shutout innings while allowing seven baserunners and striking out four. The Angels haven't outlined their full pitching schedule for the upcoming week, but Sandoval will presumably make his next start during the Angels' four-game series versus Seattle over the weekend.
MAY 31, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Throws five shutout innings Sandoval allowed five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over five shutout innings in Thursday's loss to Oakland. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Sandoval was called upon for a spot start after Shohei Ohtani experienced transportation issues that would have affected his usual game-day routine. The 24-year-old Sandoval performed excellently on short notice, but Oakland's Chris Bassitt was better with a two-hit shutout Thursday. Through six games (three starts), Sandoval has a 3.80 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 17:10 K:BB across 21.1 innings. He'll likely fill a multi-inning relief role going forward.
