Gets $18.25M deal from Boston The Red Sox signed Sandoval (elbow) to a two-year, $18.25 million contract Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Sandoval underwent internal brace surgery in June and was non-tendered by the Angels last month. He will be sidelined until the second half of the 2025 season but nonetheless landed a strong contract from the Red Sox. It's a fit that makes sense on paper, as Sandoval has strong secondary pitches but a weak fastball and the Red Sox leaned on non-fastballs in 2024 under the guidance of new pitching coach Andrew Bailey.

Impact Sandoval was diagnosed with a high-grade flexor tear and a torn UCL in his left elbow after departing early from his start against the Dodgers on June 21. The left-hander is expected to miss at least one year of action due to the injury. Per Sam Blum of The Athletic, Sandoval had an internal brace procedure.

Diagnosed with torn UCL Sandoval told reporters Monday that he has a high-grade flexor tear and a torn UCL in his left elbow, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Sandoval was removed in the third inning of Friday's start against the Dodgers, and he was placed on the injured list Saturday. The injury is more severe than what was originally labelled a left elbow strain, and the 27-year-old southpaw will have to undergo surgery. Whether Sandoval undergoes an internal brace procedure or Tommy John has yet to be determined, but he will be out of action for at least a year. Prior to the injury, Sandoval was 2-8 over 16 starts with a 5.08 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 81:35 K:BB over 79.2 innings.
