Frankie Montas - Traded to Milwaukee The Brewers acquired Montas from the Reds on Monday in exchange for outfielder Joey Wiemer, right-hander Jakob Junis and cash considerations, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Impact Montas will remain in the NL Central, heading to Milwaukee after compiling a 5.01 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 78 strikeouts over 93.1 innings in 19 starts with the Reds this season. The right-hander has had a rough three-start run since July 10, allowing 16 runs over 16 innings, raising his ERA from 4.19 to 5.01. The Brewers have gotten the most out of their starters in 2024, and they'll look to help Montas recapture his form from 2021, a season in which he produced a 3.37 ERA with 207 strikeouts over 187 innings in 32 starts with the Athletics.

Impact Williams made his season debut with the Brewers on Sunday against the Marlins after recovering from multiple stress fractures in his back, working around one hit and one walk to toss a scoreless frame. That means Williams will unavailable Monday against Atlanta should a save chance arise. Impact Myers coughed up a homer to Xavier Edwards on the first pitch of the day but settled in after that. Myers threw just 75 pitches (50 strikes), his lowest total since June 12 against Toronto. Despite the short outing, he lowered his ERA to 3.10 with a 73:23 K:BB through 81.1 innings this season. Myers is projected to make his next start in Washington.

Impact Currently in the midst of his third rehab assignment while he makes his way back from a lengthy absence due to a left knee sprain, Hall delivered perhaps his most encouraging outing yet. The four innings represented his longest outing at any level since April 6, and though he issued two walks and surrendered a solo home run, Hall largely avoided traffic on the bases. He tossed 57 pitches (36 strikes) in Friday's start, so the Brewers will presumably want to see Hall get further stretched out over another rehab start or two before bringing him back from the 60-day injured list. Joe Ross - Set to join big club, start Tuesday The Brewers are expected to activate Ross (back) from the 60-day injured list and have him start Tuesday against Atlanta at American Family Field, MLB.com reports.
Impact Even though he was lit up for 11 earned runs on 14 hits and five walks over 8.1 innings in his final two rehab outings with Triple-A Nashville, Ross apparently checked out fine physically upon returning to Milwaukee this weekend and completing a bullpen session in front of the coaching and training staffs Saturday. Though Ross looks to be fully stretched out after tossing 80 pitches for Nashville his last time out Wednesday, the Brewers could nonetheless be conservative with his workload against Atlanta, considering he's been on the shelf since May 21 with a low back strain. Moreover, the Brewers have Bryse Wilson and Jakob Junis on hand as multi-inning options out of the bullpen, so the team doesn't have as much of a need for Ross to take on a significant pitch count in his first start with the big club in more than two months.
