Can't escape first inning in loss Lorenzen (5-6) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout over two-thirds of an inning.

Impact Lorenzen retired the first two batters he faced but things unraveled quickly, as he allowed seven consecutive baserunners and four runs before being pulled at 40 pitches. The 32-year-old's velocity was down on each of his offerings, and he has now yielded four earned runs or more in three of his past five starts. On the season, he owns a 3.87 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 74:48 K:BB over 97.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Red Sox next week.

Impact Lorenzen really struggled in the second inning, hitting Logan O'Hoppe with a pitch to open the frame before then surrendering back-to-back walks and two hits, one of which went for a home run to give the Angels an early 4-0 lead. All of the right-hander's four walks came over the first two innings and he actually went 1-2-3 through each of the final two frames, but still ended up taking the second loss in his last three starts. It marked the third outing in a row in which Lorenzen has issued at least four walks and the second time in his last three starts that he's allowed five runs. On a more positive note, he's now gone at least five innings in six straight.
