Dropped from 40-man roster
The Rockies designated Lorenzen for assignment Monday.
Impact
Lorenzen maintained good health throughout the season while eating innings out of the rotation, but that was about his only positive takeaway from his time with the Rockies. Colorado will cut bait with the 34-year-old righty after he went 3-11 with a 7.08 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 82:49 K:BB in 115.2 frames over 26 appearances (25 starts). Given that any team putting in a claim for Lorenzen would have to assume the money left on his $8 million contract for 2026, he's likely to pass through waivers before the Rockies officially release him.

Chased early in loss
Lorenzen (3-11) took the loss against the Giants on Saturday, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks with one strikeout over 3.2 innings.
Impact
Lorenzen entered the fourth in a 1-1 tie before things unraveled, as he was unable to complete the inning and was ultimately charged with five more runs. The 34-year-old has endured a nightmare second half, posting an 11.57 ERA through five starts since the All-Star break while failing to complete five frames in any of them. He'll take a bloated 7.08 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 82:49 K:BB across 115.2 innings this season into a home matchup with the Guardians next weekend.

Takes no-decision vs. Cardinals
Lorenzen did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings.
Impact
Lorenzen struggled with traffic throughout the afternoon and was fortunate to escape with only four runs charged to him, two of which were earned. The veteran right-hander has now surrendered at least seven hits in four consecutive starts while failing to complete five innings in any of them. It's been a brutal season overall for Lorenzen, who owns a 6.83 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 81:46 K:BB across 112 innings. He's slated to make his next start on the road against the Giants.

Rocked in 10th loss
Lorenzen (3-10) took the loss Monday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks over three innings against the Rays. He did not record a strikeout.
Impact
Lorenzen was rocked from the outset, giving up a two-run homer to Junior Caminero in the first inning before surrendering five more runs over the next two frames. The veteran hurler has struggled mightily this season, allowing seven-plus runs in five different outings. With a 6.94 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 80:43 K:BB across 107.2 innings (24 appearances), the right-hander is tentatively slated to pitch Sunday against the Cardinals.

Takes no-decision
Lorenzen allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two over four-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Tuesday.
Impact
Lorenzen wasn't very efficient, throwing 61 of 93 pitches for strikes in this outing. He was able to benefit from the road environment, giving up no home runs for the second start in a row away from Colorado. The veteran right-hander is still a risky fantasy option regardless of location, as he's struggled to limit damage more often than not. Lorenzen has a 6.54 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 80:40 K:BB through 104.2 innings over 23 appearances (22 starts) this season. He is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Rays.

Hit hard by Nationals
Lorenzen allowed six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against Washington on Tuesday.
Impact
It was a typical Coors Field contest, as the only inning during which neither team scored was the ninth. Lorenzen had his fair share of bumps, and he was particularly tormented by C.J. Abrams, who took him deep twice. However, the right-handed hurler managed to avoid a loss thanks to a big day by Colorado's offense. Lorenzen needed 80 pitches to get through only 3.2 frames, marking the sixth time this season he's failed to complete four innings (though one instance came in his lone relief appearance). He's at an ugly 6.53 ERA on the campaign, though Colorado's lack of other rotation options means Lorenzen probably isn't currently at risk of losing his starting role.

Stingy in no-decision
Lorenzen did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over five innings against the Giants. He struck out one.
Impact
Lorenzen allowed plenty of traffic and generated just two whiffs, but the veteran limited the damage to one run across five innings. The right-hander has shown some improvement of late, posting a 3.22 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB across 36.1 innings over his past seven starts. Overall, Lorenzen will take a 3-9 record with a 6.22 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 73:38 K:BB across 97 innings (21 appearances) into the All-Star break.

Steady in no-decision
Lorenzen allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Impact
Considering the opponent, this was an admirable performance for Lorenzen, who has had more than his fair share of struggles this season. This was his longest outing since he went seven innings versus the Mets on April 24. The right-hander has allowed 15 runs (14 earned) over 31.1 innings across his last six starts, which isn't dominant, but it's a noticeable improvement. Overall, Lorenzen still has a 6.65 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 72:35 K:BB through 92 innings across 20 games (19 starts) on the year. He is tentatively projected to make a road start versus the Giants over the weekend.
