Impact It appears to be the first time Weathers has thrown off a mound since he landed on the 60-day injured list in early June with a left lat strain. After being sidelined for so long, Weathers will need time to be built back up. A return before the end of August seems unlikely, but he's got a shot to make it back before the regular season concludes.

Impact The workout appeared to mark Weathers' first time throwing off a mound since he landed on the 60-day injured list in early June with a left lat strain. After being sidelined for a lengthy period of time, Weathers will need time to be built back up. A return before the end of August seems unlikely, but manager Clayton McCullough said Wednesday that he's "cautiously optimistic" that Weathers will pitch again for the big club this season, per Alex Krutchik of FishOnFirst.com.

Impact It's the second straight game and third time over the last four contests that Myers has been absent from the lineup. Since Jakob Marsee took over in Myers' old center field spot, Myers has been one of a few players the Marlins have been rotating in and out of the lineup in right field. It will be Troy Johnstone in right field for Miami on Wednesday.

Jakob Marsee - Clubs first career homer Marsee went 2-for-2 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.
Impact Not much went right for the Marlins in this one, but Marsee did provide a highlight by leading off the bottom of the fifth inning with his first career big-league homer, as he launched an AJ Blubaugh sweeper 409 feet to right field. Marsee has gone 6-for-12 with a 5:5 BB:K and five extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and a homer) in five games since his promotion, and the early returns suggest Miami has found its long-term answer in center field.

Cal Quantrill - Hammered for seven runs Quantrill (4-9) yielded seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.1 innings Tuesday, striking out two and taking a loss against Houston.
Impact Quantrill gave up a two-run shot to Jose Altuve in the first inning, followed by a two-run triple from Jeremy Pena in the fourth. Yainer Diaz then blew the game open with a three-run shot in the fifth. Quantrill had allowed only one run over his previous 16 innings before stumbling against the Astros on Tuesday. It was the first time he yielded multiple homers in an outing since April 25, and it pushed his ERA up to 5.21 through 102 innings this season. Quantrill is lined up to take the mound in Atlanta this weekend.

Impact The 22-year-old utility player began the night on the bench, but Sanoja wound up supplying the Marlins with their first run when he pinch hit for Jakob Marsee in the seventh inning and took Bryan King deep. It was Sanoja's fourth homer of the season, and three of them have come in his last two games. Over 10 contests since the All-Star break, he's batting .385 (10-for-26) with six of his hits going for extra bases, a surge that could earn him more playing time all over the diamond -- he's made at least one appearance at every position except catcher and right field in 2025.

Impact The 29-year-old outfielder was activated from the IL earlier in the day after recovering from a finger injury, and he came off the bench to sock his third homer of the season in his 34th game. Hill's .639 OPS through 102 plate appearances is right in line with his career production, and with Jakob Marsee getting a long look in center field, there likely won't be consistent playing time available for Hill down the stretch.
