A.J. Puk - Serves up walk-off homer Puk (4-4) was charged with the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals after he gave up three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk over two-thirds of an inning.
Impact The 28-year-old was called upon in the bottom of the 10th inning to maintain a 2-2 tie, but Nolan Arenado tagged him for a three-run homer to win it for St. Louis. It's the third time in Puk's past five outings that he's allowed multiple runs, including three long balls. The left-hander had a 2.08 ERA in his first 22 appearances with 10 saves in 11 chances during that stretch, but he's surrendered 11 runs with three losses and three blown saves in his last 10 appearances.

Edward Cabrera - Allows one run in return from IL Cabrera (shoulder) didn't factor in the decision Tuesday at St. Louis after he struck out six and gave up one run on two hits and three walks across five innings.
Impact The right-hander returned from a month-long stint on the injured list due to a shoulder impingement Tuesday, and he fired five scoreless frames before Brendan Donovan's leadoff homer in the sixth. Cabrera finished at 74 pitches and could continue to have some workload limitations in his next couple starts since he rejoined Miami's rotation without a rehab assignment.

Yiddi Cappe - Failing to make impact at High-A Cappe is hitting .234 with a .265 OBP, five home runs and 15 steals in 79 games for High-A Beloit.
Impact Even if we give Cappe the benefit of the doubt and look at how he performed after the weather warmed up in the Midwest League, his OPS since May 26 is .593, and he is an appropriate age (turns 21 in September) for High-A. It's looking like Cappe's strong showing (139 wRC+) in the Florida Complex League in 2022 is the outlier, as he hasn't been able to perform against more advanced pitching.

Impact Bryan De La Cruz, Dane Myers and Jorge Soler will start across the outfield for the Marlins as they face off against left-hander Jordan Montgomery. The left-handed-hitting Sanchez has drawn only 19 plate appearances versus southpaws this year.

Josh Simpson - Rehabbing in Jupiter Simpson (shoulder) began a rehab assignment July 9 at Single-A Jupiter and retired two hitters while allowing three earned runs on two hits and one walk. He struck out one batter.
Impact Simpson was placed on Triple-A Jacksonville's 7-day injured list May 9 with a left shoulder impingement, but now that he's rehabbing in the lower levels in the minors, it likely won't be long before he's activated. In 11 innings with the Triple-A club this season, Simpson has posted a 6.55 ERA and 1.91 WHIP while striking out 16 hitters.

AvisaĂ­l GarcĂ­a - Re-starting rehab assignment Garcia (back) will re-start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Pensacola, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Garcia is slated to serve as the Blue Wahoos' designated hitter and receive three plate appearances. The veteran outfielder has been sidelined since late April with back tightness and encountered a setback on his initial rehab assignment in early June. Given their needs, it's possible the Marlins might ask Garcia to play some center field upon his return, although Dane Myers has done a fine job filling in there so far.

Edward Cabrera - Expected to start Tuesday Cabrera (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday and is listed as the probable starter for the Marlins' game against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
Impact Though the Marlins haven't officially confirmed that Cabrera will rejoin the rotation Tuesday, all signs point to the right-hander being activated after he threw a five-inning simulated game last Thursday before rejoining the big club on its road trip over the weekend. Because he hasn't pitched in an official game since June 13, Cabrera could have some workload limitations as he steps back into the rotation in St. Louis, so fantasy managers in shallower leagues may not want to jump the gun and activate him Tuesday.

Dylan Floro - Hit with loss Monday Floro (3-5) took the loss against the Cardinals on Monday, coughing up three runs on four hits in an inning of relief. He struck out one.
Impact Taking over in the sixth inning with the score tied 3-3, Floro retired the first two batters he faced before giving up four straight hits, including a two-run double from Nolan Arenado that capped the St. Louis rally. It's the right-hander's first loss since June 9 but he's been struggling over the last few weeks, getting scored upon in five of his last eight appearances. The slump has inflated Floro's ratios on the season to a 4.86 ERA and 1.51 WHIP, and he could be slipping out of a high-leverage role in the Miami bullpen.

Dane Myers - Three more hits Monday Myers went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.
Impact All three hits were singles, but it was still another impressive performance from the 27-year-old rookie. Myers is batting a dazzling .444 (16-for-36) through his first 10 big-league games with six multi-hit efforts, and while he won't keep that pace up, he could be forcing the Marlins to consider ways to find room for him in the lineup even after Jazz Chisholm (oblique) is healthy.

Impact De La Cruz put the Marlins on the board in the second inning, slugging a 421-foot solo shot. He had been struggling coming into the contest, going just 1-for-12 since the start of the second half. De La Cruz has already set a career high with 52 RBI on the campaign, and he needs just two more long balls to tie the career-best mark of 13 that he set last season.

Jesus Luzardo - Returns to Earth against Cardinals Luzardo allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out two batters over four-plus innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Monday.
Impact Luzardo had been on an impressive roll coming into the contest, notching five straight quality starts during which he posted a 1.14 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 40:6 K:BB over 31.2 innings. That magic came to least a temporary end Monday, as the left-hander tied a season-low by completing just four frames while posting more walks (three) than strikeouts (two). Luzardo had issued two or fewer free passes in 12 straight outings heading into the matchup, but his lack of control was a major factor in his undoing, as he threw just 52 of 92 pitches for a strike. Given his recent dominance, there's still plenty to be excited about for fantasy managers who roster Luzardo, and he'll look to bounce back in his second start of the week, which is tentatively lined up to come at home versus Colorado this weekend.
