Jorge López - Acquired by Marlins The Marlins acquired Lopez from the Twins in exchange for Dylan Floro on Wednesday, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact It's a swap of middle relievers in the middle of disappointing seasons. Lopez has been the less effective of the two, posting a 5.09 ERA and 27:11 K:BB over 35.1 innings of work. Unlike Floro, Lopez has an extra year of team control next season, although he looks like a potential non-tender candidate.

Impact It looked like it might be a leg-related injury when Sanchez pulled up while running out a grounder, but apparently it's his neck that's bothering him. It would seem to qualify as good news and likely is a day-to-day situation. Sanchez was retired in his lone plate appearance Wednesday before exiting.

Jesús Sánchez - Exits game with leg injury Sanchez was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Rays with an apparent leg injury, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Sanchez appeared to tweak something while running out a ground ball in the second inning and had to be helped off the field. He did spend time on the injured list earlier this season with a strained hamstring, although it's not clear whether this might be related to that. More clarification on Sanchez's status should be available shortly.

Johnny Cueto - Gets another start Cueto is listed as the Marlins' probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Tigers at LoanDepot Park.
Impact Rather than bringing back standout rookie Eury Perez from the minors to step back in as their fifth starter, the Marlins will turn to Cueto make a second straight turn through the rotation. Though he was hit hard in his first start of the season with the Marlins on April 3 and then continued to struggle during an extended minor-league rehab assignment, Cueto has been surprisingly effective since being activated from the 60-day injured list July 10. After tossing three scoreless innings in relief July 16 in Baltimore, Cueto picked up a start last Saturday against the Rockies and struck out eight over six innings of one-run ball.

Impact Berti will make his fourth consecutive start and his sixth in seven contests overall. He'll be filling in for a resting Jean Segura on Wednesday, but Berti doesn't have a clear path to a regular role at any one position at the moment. Impact Stallings will pick up his third start in four games and may have usurped Nick Fortes as the Marlins' preferred option behind the plate. Neither Stallings (.538 OPS) nor Fortes (.547 OPS) has done much offensively to create excitement for fantasy purposes, and even in mixed leagues that start two backstops, both profile as low-end options at catcher.

Impact Fortes is on the bench for the third time in four games and may have ceded No. 1 catching duties to Jacob Stallings. Though Fortes holds a minor edge over Stallings in terms of OPS (.547 to .538) this season, Stallings has a longer track record as a reliable defender behind the plate.

Impact After Cabrera pitched a clean opening frame, the Rays rallied to put up three runs with two outs in the second inning, forcing Cabrera out of the game after throwing 53 pitches. The Marlins have understandably been cautious with Cabrera after he missed over a month with a shoulder injury. He's allowed four runs over seven innings in two starts since returning to the rotation. Overall, Cabrera sports a 4.74 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP and 90:46 K:BB through 16 starts (74 innings) this season.
