INJURIES

Out again Saturday Vientos (abdomen) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Dodgers.
Impact Abdominal soreness prevented Vientos from getting into Friday's contest, and he'll sit out again Saturday while he continues to recover. Brett Baty will start at third base in his absence, and Jared Young will serve as the DH.
MAY 24 • ROTOWIRE
Scratched from lineup Vientos was scratched from the lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact It's unclear why Vientos was pulled from the starting nine, but the Mets should provide some more details shortly. In the meantime, Brett Baty will shift over to third base while Luisangel Acuna fills in at the keystone and bats eighth.
MAY 23 • ROTOWIRE
Slugs fifth homer Vientos went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Cubs.
Impact Getting the start at third base against Matthew Boyd, Vientos took the southpaw deep for a solo shot in the sixth inning. Brett Baty has started the last three games at the hot corner against right-handed pitching, but Vientos should see more action at DH in those matchups if he keeps hitting. Since returning from a minor groin injury April 22, the 25-year-old is slashing .313/.366/.500 over his last 17 games with three of his five homers and 11 of his 17 RBI on the year.
MAY 12 • ROTOWIRE
Out of lineup again Friday Vientos is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.
Impact Vientos is sitting for the second straight game. With Vientos on the bench, Brett Baty is making the start at third base and batting sixth against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon. Vientos is slashing .220/.301/.370 with four home runs, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored and a 15:30 BB:K on the season.
MAY 9 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Mets' lineup Vientos is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Arizona.
Impact It looks to be a routine day off for Vientos, who started the last three contests and 13 of the past 14 tilts. Brett Baty will handle third base and bat sixth for the Mets on Wednesday.
MAY 7 • ROTOWIRE
On bench for Game 1 Vientos is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact Vientos started the previous 10 games at the hot corner and will sit for Sunday's matinee after posting an .814 OPS during that span. Luisangel Acuna will receive a look at third base while Jeff McNeil mans the keystone and Jose Azocar starts in center field.
MAY 4 • ROTOWIRE
Slugs fourth homer Vientos went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Impact The third baseman took Corbin Burnes deep in the third inning. Vientos caught fire in the second half of April -- all four of his homers on the season have come in his last 11 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .310/.362/.667 with nine runs and 11 RBI.
MAY 1 • ROTOWIRE
Stays hot in Monday's rout Vientos went 2-for-4 with two walks, a three-run home run and three additional runs scored in Monday's 19-5 rout of the Nationals.
Impact Hitting ahead of Brandon Nimmo -- who tied a Mets record with nine RBI on the day -- paid dividends for Vientos, but the third baseman also capped the team's offensive eruption in the ninth inning with his third homer of the season. Vientos has hit safely in six straight games and 12 of his last 13, slashing .320/.364/.600 over that stretch with all three of his long balls, 11 runs and 13 RBI.
APRIL 29 • ROTOWIRE
Drives in three against Nats Vientos went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in Friday's loss to the Nationals.
Impact The 25-year-old third baseman had a slow start to the season, but Vientos is heating up rapidly. He's hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, batting .289 (11-for-38) during that stretch with six extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and two homers), seven runs and nine RBI.
APRIL 26 • ROTOWIRE
Good to go Tuesday Vientos (groin) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Phillies.
Impact Vientos sat out the past two contests after exiting Saturday's game due to groin discomfort, but he's ready to rejoin the starting nine for Tuesday's matchup with Philadelphia. The 25-year-old went 0-for-2 during Saturday's contest, which broke a modest six-game hit streak during which he had an .945 OPS.
APRIL 22 • ROTOWIRE
Remains idle Monday Vientos (groin) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact Vientos was forced to leave Saturday's game against the Cardinals and will miss a second straight start. With Vientos still idle, Brett Baty will make the start at third base and bat eighth against Aaron Nola.
APRIL 21 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play Sunday due to injury Vientos (groin) told reporters after Saturday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals that he will be out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News...
Impact Vientos was replaced by Brett Baty in the fifth inning with groin discomfort, and the former believed that was due to cramping from dehydration. Vientos didn't seem too concerned about the injury, but he would be sent for imaging if he's still sore in the morning. Baty figures to draw the start at third base in Vientos' absence.
APRIL 19 • ROTOWIRE
Exits game with groin injury Vientos was removed in the fifth inning of Saturday's game against the Cardinals due to groin discomfort, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact Vientos went 0-for-2 before being replaced by Brett Baty in the fifth frame. The severity of Vientos' injury isn't clear, but he'll undergo more testing and an update should be made by the team during or shortly after the conclusion of Saturday's contest.
APRIL 19 • ROTOWIRE
Homers again Friday Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Cardinals.
Impact The 25-year-old appears to be shaking off his early-season slump. Vientos has hit safely in six straight games and homered in the last two, batting .292 (7-for-24) over that stretch with two doubles, two homers, five runs and five RBI.
APRIL 19 • ROTOWIRE
Goes yard for first time in 2025 Vientos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.
Impact It was a much-needed first homer of the year for Vientos, who took Cardinals right-hander Andre Pallante yard to open the scoring Thursday in the second inning. Vientos is slashing a dismal .152/.253/.258 with four doubles, five RBI and six runs scored through 66 at-bats (18 games), but fantasy managers should try to stay patient with the slugging corner infielder. As long as Vientos is hitting in the heart of New York's star-studded lineup, he should see plenty of RBI opportunities going forward.
APRIL 18 • ROTOWIRE
Taking seat amid struggles Vientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Impact Vientos will get his first day off of the season after struggling to a .145/.254/.210 batting line while failing to hit a home run through 71 plate appearances. Brett Baty will get the nod at third base Wednesday, but he's mustered a lowly .361 OPS so far this season and likely doesn't present a major threat to Vientos' standing atop the depth chart.
APRIL 16 • ROTOWIRE
Early-season struggles continue Vientos went 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout in Friday's win over the A's.
Impact After a breakout 2024, Vientos has stumbled out of the gates this season with a .109/.241/.152 slash line, zero homers and only one RBI through his first 54 plate appearances. The 25-year-old is showing signs of finding his timing at the plate, however -- he's reached base nine times in the last six games with six walks and three hits, although all three knocks have been singles.
APRIL 12 • ROTOWIRE
Socks first spring homer Vientos went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.
Impact After Francisco Lindor reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the first inning for the Mets, Vientos crushed a Jake Irvin pitch over the fence in left-center field. It was the third baseman's first long ball of the spring, and Vientos has had a solid camp so far, batting .273 (6-for-22) with a 1:3 BB:K in eight appearances. After a breakout 2024, New York is counting on the 25-year-old to handle a spot in the heart of the batting order this season.

"I love Juan Soto already" - Mark Vientos raves about $765,000,000 Mets teammate's personality and professionalism Mark Vientos' New York Mets made a big splash this offseason by signing prized free agent Juan Soto to a record 15-year, $765 million contra...
FEBRUARY 28 • SPORTSKEEDA.COM
Sticking at third base Vientos is slated to remain at third base for the Mets following their re-signing of Pete Alonso, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Vientos was set to shift to first base when it looked like Alonso was headed elsewhere, but he'll now get to stick at the hot corner. The 25-year-old appears set to bat cleanup behind Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Alonso, setting him up for plenty of RBI opportunities.
FEBRUARY 6 • ROTOWIRE
In line to shift over to first base The Mets' current plan is to have Vientos be their first baseman this season, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Impact That's assuming Pete Alonso isn't re-signed, which is now the expectation. Vientos had a breakout season offensively in 2024, slashing .266/.322/.516 with 27 home runs over 111 regular-season contests for the Mets before adding another five long balls and a .998 OPS in the playoffs. The 25-year-old earned a minus-6 Outs Above Average at third base, so a move to the cold corner isn't a surprise. Brett Baty, Ronny Mauricio (knee) and Luisangel Acuna are in line to compete for the third base job.
JANUARY 17 • ROTOWIRE
Being viewed as third baseman Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Monday that the team views Vientos as its third baseman right now, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact "Right now" is key, of course, as the Mets seem virtually certain to acquire a corner infielder and that will help determine whether Vientos plays the hot or cold corner. Regardless of the position he plays, Vientos is going to occupy a spot in the middle of the Mets' lineup, perhaps batting third after Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto.
DECEMBER 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Not in lineup for second game Vientos is absent from the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact Vientos will get a breather for the second game after the Mets wrapped up a playoff spot with their win in the first contest. Jose Iglesias will shift over to third base while Eddy Alvarez gets a start at second base.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Belts 26th homer Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Atlanta.
Impact The 24-year-old spoiled Spencer Schwellenbach's shutout bid in the seventh inning when he drove the first pitch he saw the other way for a 346-foot homer. Vientos has had an up-and-down September, but he's racked up seven hits in the last six games, including a double and two long balls, despite striking out 11 times in 25 plate appearances. He's overall had a successful first extended look at big-league pitching, posting a .270/.328/.523 slash line with 26 home runs and 68 RBI in 107 contests this season, but the Mets may need a little more from him if they're going to hang onto a wild-card spot.
