INJURIES

Goes deep in win Vientos went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 10-6 win over the Giants.
Impact Vientos opened the scoring with a three-run shot in the bottom of the first inning. The 26-year-old has now homered in each of the two games he's started since returning from the injured list Monday, and he's gone 4-for-10 in four contests overall during that span. On the season, he's slashing .219/.261/.413 with 13 home runs, 39 RBI and 27 runs scored across 264 plate appearances.
SEPTEMBER 5 • ROTOWIRE
Homers in return Vientos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Rays.
Impact Playing in his first game since July 9 after recovering from a fractured right hand, Vientos brought home the opening run by grounding into a double play in the fourth inning before adding a solo homer in the seventh. It was an encouraging return, though Vientos struggled to a .169 average against right-handed pitching prior to landing on the injured list, leaving him in what should be a platoon role over the final month of the season.
SEPTEMBER 1 • ROTOWIRE
Activated, batting cleanup Monday The Mets activated Vientos (hand) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Impact Vientos has been out since early July with a fractured right hand, but he's been cleared to return after going 9-for-23 with five home runs in seven rehab contest, which includes a three-homer game at Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. The 26-year-old is starting at designated hitter and batting cleanup Monday against the Rays.
AUGUST 31 • ROTOWIRE
Activation appears imminent Vientos (hand) joined the Mets in Tampa on Monday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list during the team's upcoming three-game series versus the Rays, Jon Heyman of th...
Impact Vientos' rehab assignment appears to have come to an end, after the 26-year-old wrapped up his time in the minors on a high note by slugging three home runs Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse. Between stops with Syracuse and Double-A Binghamton during his week-and-a-half-long stint in the minors, Vientos showed no sign of his power being sapped by the fractured hand that has kept him on the shelf for nearly two months. Over seven games, Vientos slashed .391/.440/1.043 with five long balls and a 2:6 BB:K. Vientos had struggled to a .169/.220/.297 slash line over 159 plate appearances against right-handed pitching prior to landing on the IL, so despite his success on the farm, he could have to settle for a short-side platoon role upon his return.
AUGUST 31 • ROTOWIRE
Close to rehab assignment Mets interim manager Andy Green said Tuesday that Vientos (hand) is "nearing" a rehab assignment, Michelle Margaux of SNY reports.
Impact Green wouldn't provide an exact date of when Vientos would embark on a rehab assignment. Nevertheless, it's a positive sign in the veteran infielder's progress in his recovery from a fractured right hand that caused him to go on the injured list right before the All-Star break in July. The Mets should have a better sense of when Vientos can return from the IL once he's officially cleared to play in minor-league games.
AUGUST 18 • ROTOWIRE
Begins baseball activities Mets interim manager Andy Green said Friday that Vientos (hand) has begun baseball activities, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Impact Vientos is finally ready to ease back into workouts after missing more than a month of action with a fractured right hand. There's no timetable yet for the infielder's return, and he is likely to require a rehab assignment before being reinstated to the active roster.
AUGUST 14 • ROTOWIRE
Moved to injured list official The Mets placed Vientos on the 10-day injured list Friday with a fractured right hand.
Impact Vientos suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Royals when he was hit by a Michael Wacha pitch. He will likely be sidelined for at least a month or so, though the Mets have not revealed a specific timeline for Vientos.
JULY 10 • ROTOWIRE
Diagnosed with fractured hand Mets interim manager Andy Green said Thursday that Vientos has been diagnosed with a fractured right hand and will be placed on the 10-day injured list, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv rep...
Impact Vientos was struck by a 92 mph sinker thrown by Michael Wacha in the second inning of Thursday's game versus the Royals, and imaging revealed the unfortunate news. He will likely be sidelined until sometime in August, though the Mets have yet to divulge a timeline for the infielder. Vientos has been used mainly in a short-side platoon at first base over the past five weeks.
JULY 9 • ROTOWIRE
Pulled after HBP Vientos was removed from Thursday's game against Kansas City after getting hit on the hand by a pitch, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Vientos ran for himself after taking a 92-mph sinker off his right hand in the bottom of the second inning, but he was replaced on defense when the Mets took the field in the third. He'll presumably be sent in for X-rays to determine whether he suffered a fracture, and an update on his status will likely come in the near future.
JULY 9 • ROTOWIRE
Left out of lineup versus righty Vientos is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Impact Vientos was included in the lineup both of the previous two days when Atlanta sent left-handed starters to the bump, but he'll be on the bench for a fourth consecutive matchup with a right-handed starting pitcher (Reynaldo Lopez). Rather than moving Vientos out of his short-side platoon role and giving him a look as their primary designated hitter, Mets interim Andy Green has opted to rotate a number of players at that spot in the lineup.
JULY 6 • ROTOWIRE
Playing time on upswing Vientos will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact He'll stick in the starting nine for the third straight game and for the fifth time in six games, with the recent demotion of MJ Melendez to Triple-A Syracuse as well as Marcus Semien's (hip) move to the injured list having opened up more playing time Vientos. The 26-year-old has yet to capitalize on the extra opportunities, having gone 1-for-13 with a solo home run and two walks over the last five games to bring his OPS down to .638 for the season.
JUNE 29 • ROTOWIRE
Goes deep in loss Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 15-3 loss to the Phillies.
Impact In a forgettable night for the Mets, Vientos took Cristopher Sanchez deep in the fourth inning before adding a single and scoring again in the seventh. The 26-year-old has hit safely in five of his past six games, homering twice with six RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. On the year, he's slashing .223/.256/.393 with nine home runs, 32 RBI and 23 runs scored across 223 plate appearances.
JUNE 21 • ROTOWIRE
Losing out on playing time Vientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
Impact Vientos will head to the bench for the fifth time in six games and appears to have lost his grip on a regular role while he's mustered a .128/.146/.213 slash line over his last 15 games. Jared Young has displaced Vientos as the Mets' preferred option at first base.
JUNE 10 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Sunday's lineup Vientos is not in the Mets' starting lineup against the Padres on Sunday.
Impact Vientos will be on the bench for the start of Sunday's game after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Saturday's 3-2 loss to San Diego. Jared Young will start at first base while Juan Soto serves as the designated hitter.
JUNE 7 • ROTOWIRE
Competing for playing time Vientos will have to compete for at-bats with multiple different Mets, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Impact With the emergence of Jared Young and MJ Melendez, Vientos has not seen much consistent playing time since the start of June. The 26-year-old has just four hits in his past 32 at-bats. Manager Carlos Mendoza calls this a "healthy competition" and opted to start Vientos tonight at DH over MJ Melendez.
JUNE 7 • ROTOWIRE
Out of Friday's lineup Vientos isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.
Impact Vientos will retreat to the bench for the third time in New York's last four games after posting just a .494 OPS across his last 10 contests. Jared Young will make another start at first base in Vientos' stead.
JUNE 5 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting again Wednesday Vientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Impact Vientos will head to the bench for the second time in the three-game series with Seattle while he's mired in extended slump at the dish. Over his last 12 games, Vientos has slashed .146/.167/.244 while drawing no walks and striking out at a 26.2 percent clip. The Mets will go with Jared Young at first base in place of Vientos on Wednesday.
JUNE 3 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Monday's lineup Vientos is not in the Mets' starting lineup against the Mariners on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Vientos will get a breather after going 3-for-12 with one home run, three RBI and three runs scored during the Mets' three-game weekend series against the Marlins. Jared Young will start at first base while MJ Melendez serves as the designated hitter for Monday's series opener.
JUNE 1 • ROTOWIRE
Goes deep against Miami Vientos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during the Mets' 9-7 extra-inning win over the Marlins on Friday.
Impact Vientos extended the Mets' lead to 5-1 in the third inning after taking Max Meyer deep to left-center field for a solo home run. It was the seventh deep ball of the year for Vientos, five of which have come over his last 24 games since May 3. He is slashing .224/.261/.391 with 24 RBI and 15 extra-base hits over 184 plate appearances this season.
MAY 30 • ROTOWIRE
Receiving evening off Vientos is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.
Impact Vientos will hit the bench following a stretch of 22 consecutive starts, during which he produced a .227/.253/.420 slash line with four home runs, 15 RBI and nine runs. The Mets reinstated Jared Young (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and will insert him into the starting nine at first base in Vientos' stead.
MAY 26 • ROTOWIRE
Strong May continues Vientos went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Tigers.
Impact The 26-year-old launched a first-pitch cutter from Tyler Holton down the left-field line in the fifth inning, one of five long balls by the Mets on the afternoon. Vientos has been getting a chance to play every day at first base in the absence of Jorge Polanco (Achilles/wrist) and he's found his power stroke as a result. Through 11 games in May, Vientos is slashing .250/.283/.568 with two doubles, four homers and 11 RBI.
MAY 15 • ROTOWIRE
Swats fifth homer in Friday's win Vientos went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, two RBI and one run scored in Friday's 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact Vientos led off the top of the second inning with a solo shot, his fifth of the season, taking Ryne Nelson deep on a slider. He then led off the top of the 10th inning with what proved to be a game-winning RBI double. Vientos has three long balls and eight RBI in six games this month and is slashing .240/.287/.440 with five homers, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored and a 7:24 BB:K across 108 plate appearances this season.
MAY 9 • ROTOWIRE
Two more RBI in Monday's win Vientos went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's win over the Rockies.
Impact While he didn't have much to show for it, Vientos was scorching the ball all afternoon, and two of his outs left his bat with exit velocities over 100 mph. The 26-year-old is slashing .273/.333/.523 over his last 13 games with two doubles, three homers, five runs and nine RBI as he turns things around after a slow start to the campaign.
MAY 5 • ROTOWIRE
Goes deep twice Sunday Vientos went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run homers in Sunday's win over the Angels.
Impact Vientos powered the Mets' offense, getting the club on the board with a two-run blast in the fourth inning before extending the lead in the ninth frame with another two-run shot. It marked the 26-year-old's first multi-homer game of the season and his first long ball since April 18. After a brutal cold spell in the middle of April, Vientos may be starting to heat up, with his OPS up to .737 across 26 contests after entering Sunday's contest at .650.
MAY 4 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting Friday Vientos is not in the Mets' starting lineup against the Angels on Friday.
Impact Vientos will take a seat for Friday's series opener while Brett Baty draws the start at first base and bats fifth. Vientos has reached base safely in six of his last seven games, and over that span he has gone 6-for-22 (.273) with two RBI and a 4:7 BB:K.
