Anthony Rendon - Healthy and hitting this spring Rendon is hitting .444 (8-for-18) with two home runs this spring. He's appeared fully healthy this spring after a wrist injury limited him to just 47 games in 2022, MLB.com reports...
Impact Rendon will turn 33 in June and hasn't had a full healthy season since 2019 (not counting the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign). However, he's done everything this spring to give fantasy managers confidence he can end that recent trend.

Brandon Drury - Sitting with sore calf Drury, who fouled a ball off his calf Friday, is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact He was expected to be in Saturday's lineup, so his absence suggests the team is either being extra careful and/or Drury's calf was hurting more than anticipated. It seems like a day-to-day situation until further notice.

Carlos Estévez - Not concerned over rough spring Estevez and the Angels aren't concerned over his poor numbers this spring, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Impact He has walked 10 batters in 3.2 innings and has a 19.64 ERA, but the veteran righty has been experimenting with new pitches and strategies at the expense of clean innings in exhibition play. Estevez has been working more up in the zone, because the numbers say he is harder to hit up there and he's been working on a new changeup grip while attempting to throw a harder slider. Pitching coach Matt Wise said Estevez is trending in the right direction and manager Phil Nevin said he expects Estevez to get more consistent as the start of the season nears.

Reid Detmers - Has another impressive outing Detmers tossed five innings against Milwaukee in a Cactus League contest Thursday, allowing one run on two hits and no walks while striking out six batters.
Impact Detmers was perfect through four innings against a Brewers lineup filled mostly with regulars before serving up a solo homer to Luke Voit in the fifth frame. The lefty hurler again showed increased velocity in comparison to last season, as his fastball sat at 94-96 mph and his slider at 88-91 mph, per Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register. Detmers may be poised for a breakout campaign, and he's supporting that notion with a 2.08 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB through 13 innings this spring.

Brandon Drury - Will return to lineup Saturday Angels manager Phil Nevin said Drury left Friday's game with a tightened calf but will return to the lineup Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Impact Drury fouled a ball off his calf, and it tightened up on him in the third inning. It sounds like Drury has avoided a significant injury.

Brandon Drury - Leaves spring game early Drury has left Friday's Cactus League game against the Royals for undisclosed reasons, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Impact Drury was replaced by Jose Gomez after being seen limping after he exited the field. There should be an update on his status by the end of Friday's game.

Mickey Moniak - Swing adjustments paying off Moniak made some adjustments to his swing in the offseason, and he is now pushing for an Opening Day roster spot, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Impact Moniak spent time at 1RM Performance in San Diego during the offseason and also worked with Angels assisting hitting coach Phil Plantier in an effort to refine his swing. The results this spring have been promising, as he's slashing .400/.438/.667 with a home run, three doubles, a triple, five runs, five RBI and two stolen bases over 32 plate appearances. Most importantly, he's struck out only four times after fanning at a massive 39.3 percent rate over 112 plate appearances last season. The Angels' starting outfield is set with Taylor Ward in left, Mike Trout in center and Hunter Renfroe in right, and both Jo Adell and Brett Phillips are in competition with Moniak for the fourth-outfielder spot. Among the three, Moniak has looked the most impressive this spring, especially in terms of contact -- Adell has 16 strikeouts in 35 at-bats while Phillips has been punched out 15 times in 29 plate appearances. Manager Phil Nevin made it clear that the team's priority is fielding the best team, saying of the position battle, "Contracts, or however they go, we're trying to win. We're taking the best group. So I would say certainly there is competition."

Evan Marshall - Catches on with Angels Marshall signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Thursday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Impact Marshall underwent Tommy John surgery back in November of 2021. He's presumably fully recovered from that operation, although that has not been confirmed. The 32-year-old posted a 3.31 ERA and 97:40 K:BB over 100.2 innings for the White Sox from 2019-21, so he could be useful for the Angels if he can regain his pre-op form.

Jhonathan Diaz - Reassigned to minor-league camp The Angels reassigned Diaz to minor-league camp Wednesday.
Impact Diaz missed much of last season due to an unspecified injury and was designated for assignment in November. The lefty eventually returned to the Angels on a minor-league contract and got into four games this spring, allowing just one unearned run on one hit while posting a 6:1 K:BB over seven innings. Though he'll likely open the season in Triple-A, Diaz should be among the first candidates for a call-up if Los Angeles has a need for pitching depth during the campaign.
MARCH 16 • ROTOWIRE
Kyren Paris - Sent to minors camp Paris was reassigned to the Angels' minor-league camp on Wednesday.
Impact Paris held his own during Cactus League play, posting a .278/.381/.500 slash line with a double, a triple, four runs and a team-leading seven RBI over 21 plate appearances. However, he's yet to play above the Double-A level, so he was never likely to earn a big-league roster spot out of camp. Paris is just 21 years old, but he could make his major-league debut in the next season or two.

Edgar Quero - Reassigned to minor-league camp Quero was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Angels on Tuesday.
Impact Quero is one of the team's better prospects but won't turn 20 until next month and needs more development time. He collected a .965 OPS with 17 homers and 12 steals at Low-A Inland Empire in 2022 and will probably move up to High-A Tri-City to start 2023.

Coleman Crow - Sent to minors camp Crow was reassigned Tuesday to minor-league camp by the Angels.
Impact Crow spent the 2022 season in Double-A with Rocket City, and posted a 4.85 ERA over 24 appearances (23 starts) and a 1.31 WHIP over 128 innings. He likely will be a part of Triple-A Salt Lake's rotation in 2023.
