Impact Moncada is a switch hitter, but he's handled right-handed pitching much better throughout his career and even more dramatically so in 2026. He'll be held out of the lineup for the second game in a row while the Angels face another southpaw starter (Joey Cantillo), paving the way for Vaughn Grissom to pick up a start at third base.

Brent Suter - Grabs opener assignment Suter will serve as the Angels' opening pitcher in Monday's contest in Cleveland, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Impact It's the second opener assignment this season for Suter, who allowed one run over two frames in his first time serving as an opener last month. Alex Manoah is slated to be the team's primary pitcher Monday sometime after Suter is done.

Impact Bachman was called upon in the eighth frame with two outs after the Blue Jays loaded the bases on a trio of singles. Grayson Rodriguez - Sharp in first rehab start Rodriguez (shoulder) tossed 4.2 innings in a rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters.

Impact Though Rodriguez was pulled before the end of the fifth frame, he took on a hefty workload of 94 pitches. The righty's pitch count was up that high in part because opposing batters had a hard time putting the ball in play, as 11 of the 14 outs Rodriguez recorded were by strikeout. The veteran hurler did hit a batter, uncork a wild pitch and issue two walks, but he was mostly sharp, throwing 63 strikes to 31 balls. Given his strong outing and his ability to approach 100 pitches, Rodriguez may not need many more rehab appearances before he's ready to join the Angels' big-league rotation.

Impact Adell logged a career-high 37 home runs during the 2025 season but was sitting at just four long balls heading into Sunday's contest. He cracked solo home runs off Eric Lauer in both the sixth and ninth frames, marking Adell's first multi-homer game since Aug. 19. Although he's taken a slight step back in the power department, Adell has a .314 OBP in 172 plate appearances, which is slightly higher than last season (.293 across 573 plate appearances).

José Soriano - Dominates Toronto Soriano (6-2) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven across 7.2 innings.

Impact Soriano yielded an RBI double to Kazuma Okamoto in the first inning, but that ended up being the only run allowed by the veteran right-hander. Following Okamoto's double, Soriano retired the next 20 batters he faced, a streak that was broken by a Myles Straw infield single in the eighth. It was the fifth quality start of the season for Soriano and his first since April 12 against the Reds. It was the bounce-back performance he needed after giving up eight earned runs over his last two starts, and he now sits at a 1.66 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB across 54.1 innings this season. Soriano's next start is tentatively slated for this weekend at home against the Dodgers.
