INJURIES

Completes bullpen session Monday Ginn (finger) threw a bullpen Monday and is scheduled to throw another one Wednesday, per MLB.com.
Impact Ginn landed on the injured list last week due to a blister on his right middle finger, but he shouldn't remain shelved much longer. The right-hander is eligible to return Aug. 3, and provided he comes out of Wednesday's session with no issues, the 27-year-old could reclaim his spot in the rotation as soon as Aug. 4 against the Reds. In 109.1 innings (22 appearances) this season, Ginn owns an 8-6 record with a 3.46 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 100:49 K:BB.

Shelved due to blister The Athletics placed Ginn on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to a blister on his right middle finger.
Impact Though the injury appears to be a minor concern for Ginn that could allow him to return from the shelf when first eligible Aug. 3, it's nonetheless a frustrating development after he had delivered a gem of an outing his last time out Saturday. In that start, Ginn improved to 8-6 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.46 and his WHIP to 1.22 while striking out seven batters and limiting the Nationals to one hit and three walks across 6.1 innings. The Athletics recalled righty Mason Barnett from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move, and he could be a candidate to enter the rotation the next time Ginn's turn comes up this weekend in Minnesota.

Teases no-no in easy victory Ginn (8-6) earned the win over Washington on Saturday, allowing one hit and issuing three walks while striking out seven batters over 6.1 scoreless innings.
Impact The A's jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and Ginn hit cruise control from there. He didn't allow a hit until the seventh frame, when Keibert Ruiz stroked a single to center field with one out. Manager Mark Kotsay decided that would be the final batter of Ginn's outing despite the fact that the hurler was at only 82 pitches. Though he fell short of etching his name in the history books, Ginn rebounded nicely from the eight-run, 4.1-frame blowup he posted against the White Sox in his final start of the first half. Even including that mauling, Ginn has nice numbers overall, posting an 8-6 record along with a 3.46 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 100:49 K:BB over 109.1 innings spanning 22 appearances (19 starts).

Tagged for career-high eight runs Ginn (7-6) took the loss Sunday against the White Sox, allowing eight runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over 4.1 innings.
Impact Ginn's outing unraveled quickly after Sam Antonacci launched a leadoff homer to spark a six-run first inning for Chicago. The right-hander did finish the outing with seven strikeouts and retired nine straight batters at one point, but a single and a walk to begin the fifth ended his afternoon and Chicago tacked on three more runs following the exit, leaving him charged with a career-high eight earned runs. Despite Sunday's rough outing, Ginn was reliable for much of the first half, posting a 3.67 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 93:46 K:BB across 103 innings, and will have the opportunity to bounce back after the All-Star break.

Looks ready to roll for Sunday The Athletics list Ginn (illness) as their scheduled starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Jason Burke of Roundtable.io reports.
Impact Ginn had to be lifted from Tuesday's outing versus the Tigers due to illness, but it seems he is recovered and ready to take the ball this weekend for his final start of the first half. The right-hander has authored a 3.10 ERA and 86:43 K:BB over 98.2 innings covering 17 starts and three relief appearances for the Athletics this season.

Battling illness Ginn was removed from Tuesday's game against the Tigers due to an illness, Jason Burke of Roundtable.io reports.
Impact Ginn gave up two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out four batters before leaving the game after four innings. Manager Mark Kotsay said after the game that the right-hander's energy level was dropping rapidly during his start, which likely was a major reason for his diminished velocity. He's tentatively scheduled to start the final game of the first half on the road Sunday against the White Sox, though it will be worth monitoring his health as the weekend approaches.

Walks five in win Ginn (7-4) allowed one run on three hits and five walks while striking out four over six innings to earn the win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Impact Ginn's control wasn't great, but he limited the damage to a Freddie Freeman solo home run in the third inning. This was Ginn's fourth win in his last five outings, a span in which he's allowed 14 runs (12 earned) over 29 innings. On the year, he has a 3.04 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 82:41 K:BB over 94.2 innings through 19 appearances (16 starts). While he's allowing a few too many baserunners to be truly dominant, he's getting timely outs to avoid too much damage. Ginn will look to keep rolling on the road versus the Tigers next week.

Bounces back in rematch Ginn (6-4) allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings to earn the win over the Angels on Friday.
Impact Ginn earned a quality start with this outing, his third such performance over five games in June. He's allowed 14 runs (12 earned) over 29 innings this month while adding a 26:10 K:BB. The right-hander is now at a 3.15 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 78:36 K:BB through 88.2 innings over 18 appearances (15 starts). Ginn frequently allows too many hits, but he's done a fairly good job at limiting damage throughout the year. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Dodgers in what's likely to be a challenging matchup.

Falls to Halos Ginn (5-4) took the loss against the Angels on Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings.
Impact Ginn tossed a 1-2-3 first inning but mostly struggled after that. He gave up a pair of runs in the second, escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third and put two runners on base in the sixth, both of whom scored following the hurler's departure. Ginn had tossed at least six innings in six of his previous eight appearances coming into Saturday, so this was a relatively short outing by his recent standards. The right-hander still holds a strong 3.16 ERA through 82.2 frames on the season, and he'll look to get back into the win column his next time out, which is tentatively slated to be a rematch against the Angels.

Earns fifth win Ginn (5-3) earned the win Monday, allowing an unearned run on six hits and two walks over six innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.
Impact Ginn didn't generate many strikeouts, but he handled the Pirates' offense well, with their lone run against him coming unearned in the fourth inning on the heels of a Zack Gelof error. Monday marked a nice rebound effort for Ginn, who was tagged for five runs in his previous outing against the Brewers, though that start came at the infamously hitter-friendly Las Vegas Ballpark. It has been a stellar campaign for the right-hander by all accounts, as he'll take a 2.91 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 68:32 K:BB across 77.1 innings (16 appearances) into his next start, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Angels.
