Gets nod Sunday Taillon (ankle) will start Sunday's season finale against the Rays, James Wagner of The New York Times reports.
Impact Taillon's status was unclear after he exited Tuesday's start early due to aggravating a prior ankle injury. However, he threw a successful bullpen session Friday and will be ready to start a pivotal final game of the regular season for the Yankees. In his first abbreviated outing since returning from a three-week absence on Sep. 28, Taillon allowed one earned run on one hit and a walk while striking out two across 2.1 frames.

Throws successful bulloen Taillon (ankle) threw a successful bullpen session Friday and is in the mix to start Sunday's season finale against the Rays, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Impact Taillon exited his start Tuesday against Toronto after aggravating the ankle injury which sent him to the injured list in early September. He threw off flat ground Thursday and off a mound Friday, however, so the setback doesn't seem to be a significant one.

Throws off flat ground Taillon (ankle) threw off flat ground Thursday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
Impact Taillon appeared to aggravate his right ankle injury in Tuesday's start against the Blue Jays, and he's slated to undergo further testing this weekend. It's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return in 2021, but it's encouraging that he was able to throw two days after he sustained his injury.

Tests on ankle on tap Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Taillon will undergo further testing on his right ankle when the club returns to New York this weekend before a timeline for the pit...
Impact While Boone noted that Taillon was feeling "better than expected" after aggravating a right ankle tendon injury in Tuesday's start against the Blue Jays, the skipper was unwilling to speculate whether the right-hander would pitch again in 2021. Considering Taillon missed just under three weeks the first time he succumbed to the injury, he would seem to be at major risk of missing the entire ALDS, should the Yankees clinch a wild-card spot and win in the wild-card game. Taillon had been lined up to start Sunday's regular-season finale against the Rays, but the Yankees' plans for that contest are now unclear.

Aggravates ankle injury Taillon was removed during the third inning of Tuesday's start against the Blue Jays after appearing to aggravate his right ankle injury, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
Impact Taillon was sidelined the past three weeks with a right ankle tendon injury before being activated for Tuesday's outing, and he appeared to aggravate the injury and exited with an athletic trainer after recording only seven outs. He allowed one run on one hit with two strikeouts and a walk before leaving the game, and he won't factor in the decision. More importantly, the right-hander's availability is now up in the air for the final turn through the rotation as well as a potential postseason run.

Activated ahead of start The Yankees reinstated Taillon (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Impact The transaction was made in advance of Taillon's scheduled start in Tuesday's series opener in Toronto. Sidelined since Sept. 9 with the right ankle tendon injury, Taillon built up to three innings during his rehab assignment at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, giving up two runs while striking out two in his lone start for the affiliate. He'll likely face a light cap with his pitch count Tuesday, the first of what's expected to be two outings this week for the right-hander. Taillon tentatively lines up to start Sunday's regular-season finale with the Rays in New York.

Lined up for Tuesday's start Taillon (ankle) is lined up to start Tuesday's game against Toronto, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Taillon has missed just shy of three weeks with an ankle issue. If he does wind up returning Tuesday as expected, he'd have the possibility of a two-start week to end the season, as he'd be on turn to start Sunday's season finale against the Rays.
