Homers again during three-hit day
Springer went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Twins.
Impact
Springer sandwiched a pair of singles around a solo home run in the fifth inning during Sunday's winning effort. It was his second straight game with a long ball and his first game with three or more hits since Aug. 4. The 31-year-old has been skidding in September despite a couple of nice games over the weekend, as he's slashing .188/.274/.341 with three homers, five RBI, nine runs scored and 9:19 BB:K over 21 games this month. Springer has missed a good chunk of time this season due to various injuries and that could certainly play a role in his down year at the plate. He's on pace to have an average under .250 for the first time since his rookie season in 2014 and his .258 BABIP doesn't help his case either. For the year, he's slashing .242/.335/.516 with 19 homers, 40 RBI, 51 runs scored, three steals and 35:73 BB:K over 313 plate appearances.

Swats two-run homer
Springer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-1 win over Minnesota.
Impact
The 32-year-old started in center field for the second straight day, and he played the full game. Springer's biggest contribution was his homer in the seventh inning to solidify Toronto's lead. The outfielder is hitting just .160 (13-for-81) through 20 games in September. His overall slash line is at .234/.328/.502 with 18 long balls, 39 RBI, 50 runs scored and three stolen bases through 308 plate appearances.

Back in center field
Springer is starting in center field Friday against the Twins for the first time since returning from a knee injury Aug. 30.
Impact
Springer has been limited to the offensive side of the ball for the entirety of September due to issues with his knee, but he finally appears ready to roam the outfield again. The Jays could continue to give him more starts at DH to be cautious, but the club will likely want him to be ready to play the outfield in anticipation of a postseason run.

Hits homer in Game 1
Springer went 3-for-8 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored across both games of Saturday's doubleheader versus Baltimore.
Impact
The 31-year-old put Toronto ahead 11-10 in Game 1 with his two-run blast in the seventh inning, and that stood as the final score. Springer served as the designated hitter in both games as Toronto continues to be cautious with his recurring knee issues. For the year, he's slashing .262/.354/.566 with 17 homers, 37 RBI, 45 runs scored and three stolen bases across 254 plate appearances.

Back in lineup as DH
Springer (knee) is back in the starting lineup Friday against the Orioles, batting leadoff as the designated hitter.
Impact
He missed the final three games of the series against the Yankees after bruising his knee in Monday's win. Any pain figures to have subsided, as he'll return to the top of the Jays' lineup to begin the series in Baltimore. It's unclear when Toronto plans to put Springer in the outfield again, however, as he's served as the DH in each of his eight games since returning from the injured list.

Remains on bench
Springer (knee) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.
Impact
Springer will be out of the lineup for a third straight game as he continues to deal with a bruised knee, and it's not clear whether he could be available off the bench. Although he's not yet ready to start Thursday, manager Charlie Montoyo is optimistic that the 31-year-old could be back in the lineup as early as Friday, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports. Alejandro Kirk will take over as the designated hitter once again while Danny Jansen starts at catcher.
