Blasts sixth homer
Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Guardians.
Impact
Sanchez's first-inning blast was enough to put the Padres ahead for good. The catcher has seen the ball well lately, going 7-for-29 (.241) with four homers and 11 RBI over his last seven contests. He's up to six long balls, 16 RBI, nine runs scored, two doubles and a .245/.281/.623 slash over 16 contests between the Padres and the Mets this season. His solid hitting with San Diego has allowed him to take a starting role over Austin Nola.

Keeps power up Friday
Sanchez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 9-6 win over the Rockies.
Impact
Sanchez has homered three times over his last four games while adding seven RBI in that span. All five of his homers on the year have come in 10 games with San Diego after he bounced around multiple organizations to start the year. He's at a .275/.318/.700 slash line through 44 plate appearances. The power may be legit, but he won't bat that well all year -- he hasn't hit higher than .232 over the last five seasons.

Smacks three-run homer
Sanchez went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-3 victory over Seattle.
Impact
Sanchez extended the Padres' lead to 4-0 with a three-run, 414-foot shot off George Kirby with two outs in the third inning. The 30-year-old Sanchez has continued to mash with San Diego -- he's now 9-for-29 (.310) with four home runs and a 1.168 OPS through 32 plate appearances while seeing the majority of starts behind the plate.

Dumped by Yankees and Mets, Gary Sanchez is on fire with Padres: 'He's the man!'
The catcher has found new life on the West Coast

Continues to produce for new team
Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk against the Cubs in Monday's 5-0 win.
Impact
Sanchez put the Padres on the board in the second inning with a two-run shot to left field. The veteran catcher has logged just 28 at-bats for San Diego so far, but he's already gone deep three times -- one more than fellow backstops Austin Nola and Luis Campusano (thumb) have produced over 128 at-bats combined. Sanchez should have an open path to the primary catcher role for the Padres moving forward given the struggles of Nola in particular.

Resting Sunday
Sanchez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact
The Padres have shown no hesitation about breaking Sanchez in as a full-time player since he was claimed off waivers from the Mets early last week. The 30-year-old has picked up starts at either designated hitter or catcher in each of the last five games, going 5-for-17 with a pair of home runs, four RBI and two additional runs. Austin Nola will get a turn behind the plate Sunday, but Sanchez still looks like the Padres' preferred catching option for the time being.

Adds another homer
Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 10-1 win over the Marlins.
Impact
Sanchez has gotten off to quite a start with the Padres. He's homered in back-to-back games while going 4-for-11 with four RBI in three contests since being claimed off waivers from the Mets. The 30-year-old Sanchez should see regular at-bats in San Diego, likely splitting time behind the plate with Austin Nola while Luis Campusano (thumb) is sidelined through the All-Star break. While Sanchez is now four years removed from his 34-home-run season, he could be worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues.

Starting at DH
Sanchez is starting at designated hitter and batting seventh on Thursday in Miami, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact
After starting at catcher in his first two days with the club -- and homering Wednesday -- Sanchez remains in the lineup for the third contest at DH. Aaron Nola will catch Joe Musgrove.

Hitting seventh in team debut
Sanchez is catching and batting seventh in his Padres debut Tuesday versus the Marlins.
Impact
Sanchez was claimed off waivers from the Mets on Monday and might be poised for a fairly regular role at catcher given how badly Austin Nola has struggled. Brett Sullivan was optioned out to Triple-A El Paso upon Sanchez's arrival.

Claimed by Padres
Sanchez was claimed off waivers by the Padres on Monday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact
San Diego has received so little production from their catchers this season that they've decided to roll the dice on Sanchez. He's no sure bet to provide more at the plate, of course, considering he's hit only .195/.287/.392 since the start of the 2020 campaign. He has popped 49 homers over that span, though, so the Friars will hope he has a little juice left in his bat.

Designated for assignment
The Mets designated Sanchez for assignment Thursday.
Impact
With fellow catcher Tomas Nido (eye) returning from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Sanchez has been cast off the 40-man roster and will likely head back to Triple-A. He holds a .671 OPS through 106 minor-league plate appearances.

Making first start of season
Sanchez is hitting eighth and starting behind the plate for the first game of a doubleheader against the Guardians on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact
Sanchez will be making his first start as a member of the Mets against Tanner Bibee and the Guardians. The two-time All-Star will handle catching duties with Francisco Alvarez getting a breather to open the twin billing.

Officially promoted
The Mets selected Sanchez from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
Impact
After signing a minor-league deal with the Mets on May 9, Sanchez's promotion will prevent him from exercising his opt-out clause. The 30-year-old backstop holds a .671 OPS in Triple-A this season but has excelled since joining the Mets' Triple-A team, slashing .308/.514/.500 through 37 plate appearances. Sanchez will likely be used off the bench until Tomas Nido (eye) and Omar Narvaez (calf) return from their injuries.

Joining big-league roster
Sanchez will have his contract selected and be promoted to the majors on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Impact
Sanchez joined the Mets on a minor-league deal May 9, and he had an opt-out clause in his contract for Friday. The Mets will ensure he remains with the team by adding him to the big-league roster after he hit .318 with one home run, five RBI and two runs scored in seven games with Triple-A Syracuse. He may get some playing time in the short term if Francisco Alvarez (undisclosed) can't return to the lineup, though Sanchez will likely serve primarily as a bench bat.
