Signs with Milwaukee Sanchez signed a contract with the Brewers on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Impact Sanchez spent most of last season with the Padres, where he slashed .218/.292/.500 with 19 homers and 46 RBI upon being claimed by the team in late May. The 31-year-old was particularly effective against lefties, putting up a .984 OPS against southpaws over 79 plate appearances. Now with Milwaukee, Sanchez will likely receive most of his at-bats as the Brewers' designated hitter while also giving the Crew another option behind the dish alongside William Contreras.

Moves to 60-day IL The Padres transferred Sanchez (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
Impact Sanchez had already been ruled out for the season after fracturing his right wrist last week, so his move to the 60-day IL was merely procedural. The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-handed reliever Nick Hernandez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Officially lands on IL Sanchez was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Sept. 7, with a right wrist fracture.
Impact Sanchez's season is now officially over after he broke his wrist earlier this week. He slugged 19 home runs in just 260 plate appearances with the Padres, which could be enough to land him a major-league contract this winter after he bounced around in 2023.

Padres' Gary Sanchez suffers fractured wrist, season finished Sanchez, who far outperformed expectations after he was signed off waivers, hit by a pitch in eighth inning
SEPTEMBER 7, 2023 • SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM
Has fractured wrist Padres manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday that Sanchez has a fractured wrist, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact With less than a month left in the season, a fractured wrist likely spells the end of Sanchez's 2023 campaign. He slashed .220/.292/.504 across 257 plate appearances upon joining the Padres in late May. Luis Campusano figures to take over as San Diego's primary catcher for the remainder of the year.
SEPTEMBER 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

Impact Luis Campusano (groin) will return at catcher and bat sixth. Sanchez went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk in the Padres' loss to Philadelphia on Monday.
SEPTEMBER 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Out of Sunday's lineup Sanchez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Sanchez is in the midst of a five-game hit streak during which he's gone 6-for-17 with a double and two homers, but he finds himself on the bench for the second time in San Diego's past three games. Luis Campusano has also hit well with an .856 OPS this season and will work behind the plate Sunday.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Knocks homer Saturday Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Giants.
Impact Sanchez has gone 6-for-17 (.353) with two homers and three RBI over his last five games. The veteran catcher is up to 19 long balls this season, putting him one away from his fifth 20-homer season. Through 72 contests, he's slashing .220/.288/.500 with 46 RBI, 33 runs scored and eight doubles. Down the stretch, Sanchez will likely split time behind the dish with Luis Campusano as the Padres try to get the younger catcher some more major-league experience.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

Impact Luis Campusano will start at catcher while Manny Machado takes a turn as the Padres' designated hitter and Matthew Batten covers third base. Sanchez is sitting on a four-game hitting streak and has tallied 18 homers and 44 RBI in 68 total games for San Diego.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

Impact Luis Campusano will start at catcher and bat seventh for the visiting Padres. Manny Machado is taking a turn as the DH and hitting third. Goes yard Sunday Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Brewers.
Impact Sanchez put the Padres ahead 3-1 in the second inning with his blast, which was his sixth homer over 16 games in August. For the month, he's still batting just .241 (13-for-54), but he's been locked in from a power perspective. Overall, the catcher is at a .215/.287/.493 slash line with 18 long balls, 45 RBI, 32 runs scored and seven doubles over 68 contests between the Mets and the Padres this season.

Sitting Saturday Sanchez isn't in the Padres' lineup Saturday against Milwaukee.
Impact After belting his 17th homer of the season in Friday's loss, Sanchez will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout. Luis Campusano will take Sanchez's place behind the dish and bat sixth.
AUGUST 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Belts 17th homer Sanchez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to Milwaukee on Friday.
Impact Sanchez struck out in his first three at-bats before crushing a two-run shot to left field in the ninth inning. The long ball was his fifth through 14 games in August and his 17th overall this season, sixth-most among all MLB catchers. That total is particularly impressive given that Sanchez didn't play his first game of the campaign until May 21. However, Sanchez remains a batting-average liability in fantasy, as he's posting a .210 mark on the season.
AUGUST 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting for Game 1 Sanchez isn't in the Padres' lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Arizona, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact After going 0-for-5 across his last two games, Sanchez will yield catching duties to Luis Campusano for the first game of Saturday's action. The 30-year-old backstop figures to return for the nightcap.
AUGUST 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
On bench Thursday Sanchez is out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
Impact Sanchez started at catcher in the final two games of the Padres' previous three-game set against the Orioles. Luis Campusano will get the call behind the plate in Thursday's series opener versus Arizona. Manny Machado is occupying the DH role as Ha-Seong Kim covers third base.
AUGUST 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sets tone with grand slam Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 10-3 win over the Orioles.
Impact Sanchez's big blast in the first inning gave the Padres all they needed for the win. He's hitting .300 in August (9-for-30) with four homers and nine RBI over eight games this month. Overall, the catcher is at a .221/.297/.503 slash line with 16 homers, 41 RBI, 30 runs scored and seven doubles through 219 plate appearances. Despite the strong recent form at the plate, Sanchez has been splitting time pretty evenly with Luis Campusano.
AUGUST 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Takes seat Monday Sanchez is not in the lineup Monday versus the Orioles.
Impact Luis Campusano will start at catcher and Garrett Cooper is serving as the Padres' designated hitter. Sanchez hasn't strung together many consecutive starts in recent weeks even though he boasts a 1.048 OPS with five home runs over his last nine games.
AUGUST 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting Saturday Sanchez isn't in the Padres' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Impact Sanchez has been alternating starts with Luis Campusano since Monday, and Saturday will mark Campusano's turn to start behind the dish. Sanchez is 6-for-22 with three home runs since the start of August.
AUGUST 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
On bench Wednesday Sanchez is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Mariners.
Impact Luis Campusano will start at catcher and Ji-Man Choi will serve as the Padres' designated hitter. Sanchez went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Tuesday's loss at Seattle, but he's registered a strong .812 OPS with 15 homers and 36 RBI across 54 games since joining San Diego on a waiver claim from the Mets in late May.
AUGUST 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Resting Monday Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact The Padres and Dodgers are concluding their four-game series with a rare Monday day game after a Sunday night game, so Sanchez will get a breather after he was behind the plate for both of the previous two contests while going 3-for-7 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and an additional run. Luis Campusano will draw the start at catcher Monday, but Sanchez still appears to be the Padres' preferred option at the position for now.
