Bound for bench Galvis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Impact Galvis started at three different infield spots -- second base, third base and shortstop -- across each of the past three contests, finishing 2-for-9 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs. His versatility and switch-hitting ability should afford him a handful of starts per week the rest of the season, but Galvis isn't expected to play on an everyday basis while all of Jean Segura, Ronald Torreyes and Didi Gregorius are healthy.

Socks homer Sunday Galvis went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Sunday's win over the Marlins.

Impact Galvis blasted his 11th homer of the season with a two-run bomb off starter Elieser Hernandez in the fourth inning, but he also crossed home plate in extras when he scored the winning run following an RBI single from Odubel Herrera. The second baseman is only hitting .246 with a .718 OPS on the season, but he's gone 4-for-12 (.333) with two homers, three RBI, a double and four runs scored in four September games.

Activated from injured list Galvis (quadriceps) was reinstated from the injured list Tuesday.

Impact Galvis is ready to go after missing just shy of two months with a strained quadriceps. He's not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rays and is likely to serve as primarily a utility man down the stretch. When he gets into a game, it will be his first in a Phillies uniform since the end of the 2017 season but his 643rd overall, as he spent his first six major-league seasons with the team. Enyel De Los Santos, whom the Phillies acquired for Galvis in a trade with the Phillies back in December of 2017, was optioned to clear a spot for him on the roster.

Begins rehab assignment Galvis (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Impact Galvis was acquired in a trade with the Orioles at the deadline while still battling a strained right quadriceps, an issue he suffered back in late June. The length of his absence means he'll likely need more than just a game or two in the minors before he's cleared to return, though it's not yet clear exactly when the Phillies intend to activate him.

Impact While recovering from the right quad strain he sustained June 26 as a member of the Orioles, Galvis has yet to make an appearance for his new organization since being acquired ahead of the July 30 trade deadline. Galvis' ability to take swings on the field Sunday is a good sign, but he'll still need to complete a multi-game rehab assignment in the minors before the Phillies bring him back from the 10-day injured list.

Headed back to Philly Galvis (quadriceps) was traded from the Orioles to the Phillies on Friday for an undisclosed package, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Impact He has been on the injured list but was reportedly nearing a rehab assignment prior to this trade. Once fully healthy, Galvis will be an option to spell Didi Gregorius, Jean Segura and Alec Bohm in the infield. He was hitting .249/.306/.414 with nine home runs in 72 games prior to suffering a quadriceps injury.
