Heading to Japan Galvis is expected to sign with the NPB's Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, Yahoo Japan reports.

Impact While Galvis has never been confused for a star, he's better than most players who head overseas. The 32-year-old has spent most of his career as a low-end regular and looked like he was still capable of that in 2021, as his .242/.302/.407 slash line was good for a career-best 90 wRC+, a perfectly adequate number for a shortstop. Given the uncertainty that comes with MLB's lockout, however, it's likely he saw a guaranteed deal in Japan as far more appealing than waiting out the labor strife stateside, especially as he wasn't necessarily guaranteed a big-league deal once the situation is eventually resolved.

Impact Galvis has a .286/.359/.686 slash line with four homers, two doubles, six RBI and eight runs through 12 games in September, and he appears to have usurped Ronald Torreyes as the Phillies' primary third baseman. Galvis should remain a lineup regular down the stretch, especially if he continue to maintain a hot bat.
