Beginning rehab Galvis (quad) will begin rehabbing in Sarasota shortly after the All-Star break and the team hopes to have him back by the end of July, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Impact Galvis has been out since the end of June with the injury. The original timetable given was between one and two months, so the current hope is that he will be able to return on the earlier side of that estimate. Prior to the injury, Galvis was hitting .249/.306/.414 across 273 plate appearances.

Slated for extended absence Manager Brandon Hyde said Sunday that Galvis (quad) is expected to be out between one and two months, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Impact Galvis was placed on the 10-day IL after being diagnosed with a right quad strain earlier Sunday. The injury is evidently rather serious, as Galvis figures to miss all of July and possibly a large portion of August. Ramon Urias and Domingo Leyba figure to see the bulk of the time at shortstop during Galvis' absence.

Impact The move comes as little surprise, as manager Brandon Hyde said the injury appeared to be relatively serious after the infielder exited Saturday's loss to Toronto. It's not entirely clear how long Galvis will be sidelined, but he seems likely to be on the shelf for the next couple weeks and possibly through the All-Star break. Ramon Urias was recalled in a corresponding roster move.
