Impact Cordero flopped with the Red Sox earlier this season (.502 OPS, 36.3 percent strikeout rate in 34 games), but he earned his way back to the big leagues after slashing a sizzling .331/.410/.548 in 188 plate appearances at Triple-A since his May 27 demotion. Boston placed Danny Santana (groin) on the injured list in a corresponding move, but Cordero could have a tough time finding consistent at-bats while he's up with the big club. Boston already has three outfielders in Alex Verdugo, Jarren Duran and Enrique Hernandez that are lefty or switch hitters, so the lefty-hitting Cordero seemingly lacks a path to a strong-side platoon role.
