Shifts to OF
Cordero moved from first base to left field Saturday after Alex Verdugo was removed from the game with flu-like symptoms. He went 1-for-4 with a run scored in a 6-5 win over the Ma...
Impact
Cordero scored Boston's winning run in the eighth inning after hitting a hard line-drive triple off the Green Monster. He came home on Christian Vazquez's single. The Red Sox are uncertain about Verdugo's status, so Cordero could be filling in at corner outfield while Bobby Dalbec handles first base Sunday against right-handed starter Logan Gilbert.

Remains on bench
Cordero will sit for the second straight game Friday against the Mariners, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact
Cordero had been stealing playing time at first base while also filling in occasionally in the corner outfield spots, but he may be losing playing time after hitting .214/.306/.310 through 15 games. He was never likely to start Friday, however, with the Mariners sending lefty Robbie Ray to the mound.

Impact
Although right-hander George Kirby is on the mound for Seattle on Thursday, Cordero will get a breather after he went 2-for-12 with two doubles, two runs and four strikeouts over the last three games. Bobby Dalbec will start at first base and bat seventh.

Starts in RF
Cordero started in right field and went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 8-0 loss to the Angels.
Impact
Cordero is expected to start at first base when the Red Sox are facing right-handers, as they were Thursday against Shohei Ohtani, but he was moved to the outfield as part of the reshuffling to cover for ailing center fielder Enrique Hernandez (illness). Jackie Bradley, the team's primary right fielder, moved to center field. Cordero is 3-for-14 with one walk, a double and an RBI over 16 plate appearances since being called up.

Won't start versus lefty Wednesday
Cordero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact
The lefty-hitting Cordero has settled into the large side of a platoon at first base since being promoted from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, but he'll give way to the righty-hitting Bobby Dalbec as the Red Sox take on Angels southpaw Reid Detmers in the penultimate game of the series. Cordero turned in a quality performance in Tuesday's 4-0 win, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Raps two hits in win
Cordero started at first base and went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Angels.
Impact
Cordero started for the third time in last four games, all against right-handed starters. It looks like the platoon with Bobby Dalbec is in place for the time being. Cordero, who has hit safely in two straight contests (3-for-6, one walk), was once again removed late for Dalbec, who is considered the better defender.

Collects double, RBI in loss
Cordero started at first base and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Sunday's 9-5 loss to Baltimore.
Impact
Cordero's fourth-inning sacrifice fly gave Boston a short-lived 1-0 lead. He later produced his first hit since being called up Friday. After his callup, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Cordero would handle the strongside of a platoon at first base with Bobby Dalbec, although he did not play Saturday against a right-hander.

Called up, starting Friday
Cordero had his contract selected by the Red Sox and will start at first base Friday against the Orioles, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Impact
Cordero posted a .296/.378/.535 slash line with three home runs, eight doubles, 23 RBI and 13 runs through 19 games with Triple-A Worcester, which was apparently enough to warrant another look in the majors. Travis Shaw was designated for assignment to clear room on the 28-man and 40-man rosters. Bobby Dalbec has also struggled early in 2022, so Cordero could carve out a sizable role if he can deliver a decent level of production for Boston.
