INJURIES

Strong in eighth win Peterson (8-1) picked up the win over the Padres on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 7.1 innings while striking out two.
Impact Peterson surrendered just one hit through the first four innings before allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the fifth, leading to one run coming home for San Diego. He was later relieved by Dedniel Nunez with one out in the seventh, marking the second consecutive start in which he's been able to get through at least seven innings. Peterson has also logged quality starts in three straight and in four of his five outings this month. On the downside, his two strikeouts Saturday marked his lowest total in that category since July 1 against the Nationals and he's now issued multiple walks in seven of his last nine starts.
AUGUST 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Punches out eight Peterson didn't factor into the decision Monday against Baltimore, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out eight.
Impact Peterson logged his third quality start in four appearances and kept the Orioles off the scoreboard until the fifth inning Monday. The left-hander tied his season high in strikeouts and issued fewer than three walks for the second time in seven starts. Peterson has been excellent in August, boasting a 1.85 ERA across 24.1 innings. He's on track to cap off a two-start week Saturday at San Diego.
AUGUST 20, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Walks four in win Peterson (7-1) allowed an unearned run on three hits and four walks while striking out four over 6.1 innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Athletics.
Impact This was the sixth time Peterson has gone at least six innings, and it was one of his strongest outings this year. The one concern that remains is his high walk rate -- he's issued at least three walks in five of his last six starts and has a 4.3 BB/9 this season. Peterson has managed to post a 3.04 ERA despite a 1.39 WHIP and 56:34 K:BB through 71 innings over 13 starts on the year. He's projected for a tougher home start versus the Orioles early next week.
AUGUST 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Cruises to sixth win Peterson (6-1) earned the win Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over five innings against the Rockies. He struck out five.
Impact Peterson was provided a four-run lead prior to taking the hill and saw the lead grow as high as seven as he cruised to his sixth win. A Brenton Doyle sacrifice fly was the only run tallied against the Denver-born Peterson, who has now allowed two runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts. While his WHIP is still a bit unsightly at 1.42, he's successfully limited the damage to the tune of a 3.34 ERA over 12 starts spanning 64.2 innings. He's next slated to toe the rubber when Oakland makes the cross-country trip to take on the Mets in Queens.
AUGUST 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Solid in losing effort Peterson did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Angels on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over six innings while striking out four.
Impact Peterson struggled a bit in the opening frame, issuing a walk to Zach Neto before giving up back-to-back singles with two outs, leading to a run coming across for the Angels. However, the lefty was able to pull himself together from that point on, allowing just one more run over his six innings of work while producing three 1-2-3 innings on the night. Peterson has now gone at least five innings in four consecutive starts and is yet to allow more than four runs in any outing this season. Saturday also marked the first time in his last five outings that he didn't walk multiple batters.
AUGUST 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Allows four runs in defeat Peterson (5-1) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.
Impact Peterson faced just one batter over the minimum through three but allowed six of the first seven batters to reach base during a four-run fourth inning that led to Peterson taking his first loss of the season. It's only the second time in 10 starts Peterson has allowed more than two earned runs. He'll carry a 3.52 ERA and 1.47 WHIP into his next start, scheduled to take place in Anaheim against the Angels.
JULY 28, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Notches fifth win Peterson (5-0) picked up the win Monday against Miami, allowing two earned runs on six hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out four.
Impact Peterson wasn't flashy but he logged his fifth win and remains undefeated on the season. The 28-year-old notched his sixth-consecutive start allowing two earned runs or fewer, logging a 2.53 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 30:18 K:BB in 32 innings during that stretch. The southpaw's poor 1.57 K:BB ratio hampers his upside, but he has been rock solid for the Mets this season with a 3.14 ERA. He will look to keep rolling his next time out, tentatively scheduled for this weekend against Atlanta.

Notches fifth win Peterson (5-0) picked up the win Monday against Miami, allowing two earned runs on six hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out four.
Impact Peterson wasn't flashy, but he allowed two earned runs or fewer in a sixth consecutive start, logging a 2.53 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 30:18 K:BB in 32 innings during that stretch. The southpaw's poor 36:23 K:BB in 48.2 innings limits his upside, but he has been solid for the Mets this season with a 3.14 ERA. He will look to keep rolling his next time out, a start which is tentatively scheduled for this weekend against Atlanta.
JULY 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Activated from paternity leave The Mets activated Peterson from the paternity list Monday.
Impact Peterson was away from the club for its final series of the first half against the Rockies, but he'll be back on the roster for the start of the second half Friday in Miami. The Mets have not revealed their post-break rotation plans yet, so it's not clear when Peterson's first start of the second half will occur.
JULY 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Moves to paternity list The Mets placed Peterson on the paternity list Friday.
Impact Peterson delivered six scoreless frames against the Nationals in his final start before the All-Star break Thursday, so his absence won't affect the Mets' rotation. Eric Orze was called up in a corresponding move Friday.
JULY 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Tosses six scoreless, earns win Peterson (4-0) earned the win Thursday, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing four hits and three walks against the Nationals. He struck out five.
Impact Peterson, who has now given up two earned runs or fewer in all but one of his eight starts, kept the Nationals off the board to mark his first scoreless outing of the season. Peterson lowered his ERA from 3.58 to 3.09 with the outing, though a less impressive 1.42 WHIP belies that ERA and portends more trouble in the future, as indicated by the 5.71 xERA he held prior to Thursday's outing. Peterson will now receive extended time off as his next start is not scheduled to take place until following the All-Star break.
JULY 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Inefficient in no-decision Peterson came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Pirates, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.
Impact The 28-year-old lefty ran up his pitch count and got the hook after 87 pitches (61 strikes), missing a chance to collect his fourth win of the season. Peterson has allowed two runs or less in four straight starts but has failed to complete five innings in two of them, leaving him with a 3.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 21:11 K:BB through 21 innings over that stretch. He could be the pitcher bumped from the rotation when Kodai Senga (shoulder) returns sometime after the All-Star break, but Peterson will take one more turn before the Midsummer Classic, lining up to face the Nationals at home next week.
JULY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Quality start in no-decision Peterson did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 win versus Washington, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out two.
Impact The New York southpaw scattered seven singles en route to his third quality start of 2024. After issuing eight free passes across 10.1 innings in his previous two outings, Peterson was much sharper in this appearance, walking fewer than two for just the second time this season in six starts. The 28-year-old now sports a 3.51 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 22:14 K:BB in 33.1 overall innings. He is currently slated to make his next start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh this weekend.
JULY 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Fans eight in no-decision Peterson came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Yankees, allowing one run on three hits and five walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out eight.
Impact Despite being staked to a 6-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning, Peterson wasn't efficient enough to qualify for his fourth straight win as he needed 103 pitches (62 strikes) to record his 13 outs. The southpaw has walked multiple batters in four straight outings but has mostly been able to limit the damage, and he'll take a 3.67 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB through 27 innings into his next start, which is currently scheduled to come on the road early next week against the Nationals. The Mets begin a stretch of 17 straight games without a day off Friday, however, which could require some juggling of the rotation.
JUNE 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Solid in season debut Peterson came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 10-3 loss to the Dodgers, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three.
Impact Making his season debut after recovering from offseason hip surgery, Peterson tossed 86 pitches (57 strikes) in a solid performance and left the mound with the score tied, 3-3. The Mets are running with a six-man rotation at least until their trip to London in early June to face the Phillies, so the southpaw should get another start early next week, on the road against the Nationals. Whether Peterson remains in the rotation after that is unclear.
MAY 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Activated for 2024 debut The Mets reinstated Peterson (hip) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Dodgers at Citi Field.
Impact The Mets moved Adrian Houser to the bullpen over the weekend to make room in the rotation for Peterson, who will be making his 2024 debut for the big club after spending the first two months of the season on the IL while he completed his recovery from Nov. 6 surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. Peterson exhibited few signs of rust during his lengthy rehab assignment, as he racked up 35 strikeouts against three walks while pitching to a 1.14 ERA over 23.2 innings across his six outings with Triple-A Syracuse, Double-A Binghamton and Single-A St. Lucie. Despite his success during the rehab assignment, fantasy managers may want to tread carefully with Peterson in his first start with the Mets since he'll be facing off against a Dodgers lineup that ranks second in baseball with a .333 wOBA.
MAY 29, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Shifts to 60-day IL Peterson (hip) was placed on the 60-day injured list Sunday.
Impact The left-hander is expected to miss the first two months of the season as he continues his rehab from November hip surgery, so it's not a surprise he'll begin the campaign on the injured list. Peterson had a 5.03 ERA in 27 appearances (21 starts) last season but likely won't be guaranteed a rotation spot once healthy.
FEBRUARY 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Punches out seven Peterson did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over four innings against the Phillies. He struck out seven.
Impact Peterson continues to rack up impressive strikeout totals, logging 37 in his last five starts (26.2 innings). However, he'd wind up with a no-decision Thursday, allowing a pair of runs in the first inning and another two in the third, as the left-hander remains winless since July 27. Overall, Peterson is 3-8 with a 5.37 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 120:46 K:BB across 104 innings this season. He'll likely make one more start this season, currently scheduled for next week against Miami.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out 10 Peterson did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against the Reds. He struck out 10.
Impact The 10 strikeouts matched a career high for Peterson, who has achieved that total on three other occasions. He pitched well but a two-run homer by Spencer Steer in the 6th inning was Peterson's ultimate undoing as he finished one out shy of a quality start. He lowered his season ERA to 5.52 and has 113 strikeouts in 100 innings. His next start is scheduled to take place during the Mets' upcoming road trip to Miami.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out eight in loss Peterson (3-8) took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk over six innings against Minnesota. He struck out eight.
Impact Peterson hit Donovan Solano with a pitch and then gave up a single to Jorge Polanco to open the bottom of the first before fanning the next three batters to get out of the jam. However, he would go on to allow three runs over the next two frames, which would ultimately decide the contest. The lefty has now allowed at least three runs and seven hits in three of his last four outings and has not recorded a win since July 27. On a positive note, he does hold a healthy 20:4 K:BB over his last three starts.
SEPTEMBER 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Four runs in no-decision Peterson did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits over four innings against the Mariners. He struck out four and did not issue any walks.
Impact Peterson surrendered a solo homer in the first inning and two more runs in the third. He was removed with no outs in the fifth and a runner on base who would come around to score, giving Seattle a 4-3 lead and putting the southpaw on track for a loss until New York staged a late comeback. In six starts since rejoining the Mets' rotation Aug. 4, Peterson has posted a 4.15 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a pedestrian 27:16 K:BB across 26 innings. He tentatively lines up for a road matchup with Minnesota next weekend.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Rebounds against Angels Peterson did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing a run on three hits and three walks over seven innings in a 3-2 victory over the Angels. He struck out eight.
Impact Peterson matched a season high with eight strikeouts Sunday while shutting out the Angels until the seventh inning. It was an encouraging outing from the 27-year-old Peterson, who allowed four runs in just 4.2 innings in his last start against Atlanta. The southpaw lowered his ERA to 5.23 on the season with a 1.60 WHIP and 91:41 K:BB across 84.1 innings, including 16 starts. Peterson will look to build on his performance in his next outing, currently scheduled as a home matchup next week against Seattle.
AUGUST 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles continue Peterson did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against Atlanta. He struck out four.
Impact The 27-year-old southpaw endured yet another rough outing Monday, allowing a two-run double to Michael Harris and two solo home runs to Marcell Ozuna before exiting with two outs in the fifth inning. Peterson has failed to complete five innings in any of his three starts since rejoining the Mets' rotation on Aug. 9, posting a 5.25 ERA, 2.00 WHIP with a pedestrian 14:10 K:BB across 12 innings during that stretch. Assuming he gets another turn, Peterson is projected to face the Angels at home this weekend.
AUGUST 22, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Can't find plate Tuesday Peterson escaped with a no-decision Tuesday in the Mets' 7-4 loss to the Pirates, giving up one run on three hits and six walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out five.
Impact The southpaw put runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings but was able to wriggle off the hook each time, and the only damage off Peterson came via a Liover Peguero solo shot to lead off the top of the second. It was still a rough outing for Peterson, who also plunked a batter and got just 48 of his 91 pitches over the plate. Since rejoining the rotation after the trade deadline, he's posted a 2.61 ERA that is far more lucky than good considering his 1.84 WHIP and 11:11 K:BB through 10.1 innings. Until he improves his control, Peterson will be an extremely volatile fantasy option. He's next set to take the mound this weekend in St. Louis.
AUGUST 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Notches no-decision Wednesday Peterson allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Wednesday.
Impact Peterson isn't fully built up after pitching out of the bullpen for most of July, so he was limited to 62 pitches and 3.2 frames Wednesday. The southpaw allowed a run in each of the first and second innings but kept the Mets in the contest, striking out five batters and allowing six baserunners. Peterson looks to have a rotation spot locked down with Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer no longer around, and he'll aim to extend further in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home against Pittsburgh early next week.
