Shines in win over Dodgers Peterson (3-2) earned the victory over the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over 7.2 innings.
Impact Peterson fell behind 2-0 in the second inning but didn't give up another run for the remainder of his outing. The southpaw completed a season-high 7.2 frames (in fact, this was the first time all year he's pitched more than six innings) and recorded his fourth straight quality start. Peterson's past two outings have been particularly impressive given the quality of opponent -- he's yielded just three earned runs over 13.2 frames versus the Yankees and Dodgers. The veteran hurler has been a key part of the Mets' rotation this year, posting a 2.79 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 54:22 K:BB through 58 innings. Peterson's next start is projected to be much less intimidating on paper than his past two, as he's lined up to face the Rockies at home next weekend.

Quality start against NYY Peterson didn't factor into the decision during Sunday's loss to the Yankees, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks across six innings. He struck out four.
Impact Peterson started slow, with leadoff hitter Paul Goldschmidt reaching on a throwing error in the first inning before back-to-back doubles by Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger yielded a pair of runs. The 29-year-old southpaw kept the Yankees from adding any more runs, but his efforts weren't enough to land a victory. Peterson has now logged three consecutive quality starts, though he's walked 11 batters in 18.0 innings during that stretch. On the year, Peterson has a 2.86 ERA over 50.1 innings. He's lined up to face the Dodgers next weekend.
MAY 19, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out seven in no-decision Peterson did not factor into the decision Monday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven across six innings.
Impact After giving up a solo homer to Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the second inning, Peterson was able to rebound by retiring the 10 batters he faced (including four strikeouts) before being tagged for a second run in the seventh frame. Peterson was able to generate 17 whiffs on 100 pitches (67 strikes) en route to his second straight quality start and fourth of the season. He has a 3.05 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 43:16 K:BB across 44.1 innings and is slated to take on the Yankees on the road this weekend.
MAY 13, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Allows four runs in loss Peterson (2-2) took the loss Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings.
Impact The Mets got on the board first, but Peterson allowed two runs in the fourth inning and a two-run home run to Lourdes Gurriel in the sixth. While Peterson was able to complete six innings for the third time this season, the four runs allowed were a season high. He also yielded a homer for the first time since his season debut March 31 versus the Marlins. The southpaw has a 3.52 ERA across 38.1 innings, and he's added a 1.38 WHIP and 36:13 K:BB. He is tentatively projected to make his next start in a favorable matchup at home versus the Pirates.
MAY 7, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Grabs easy win Tuesday Peterson (2-1) got the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out two over five innings. He did not walk a batter.
Impact Peterson got through four scoreless before the Diamondbacks finally pushed across a run with two singles and a double in the fifth. He did not come back out for the sixth despite being at 85 pitches and the Mets holding an 8-1 lead, as he hasn't reached six innings in each of his last three starts. Peterson's had two outings with nine strikeouts already this season but has combined to punch out only four in his last two starts. On a positive note, he has one walk over his last four starts and hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start thus far. He'll aim to beat the Diamondbacks twice in a week when the Mets travel to face them Monday.
APRIL 30, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
No-decision Wednesday Peterson didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Phillies, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He struck out two.
Impact The eight hits allowed by Peterson marked a season high, though none went for extra bases, allowing the left-hander to mitigate the damage. Peterson's now allowed at least seven hits in his last three outings, though he's issued just one walk in that span (16.2 innings). His ERA now sits at 3.29 on the year with a 1.43 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB across five starts (27.1 innings). Peterson is currently scheduled to face the Diamondbacks at home in his next outing.
APRIL 23, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Matches season high with nine Ks Peterson didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Cardinals after allowing three runs on seven hits and no walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out nine.
Impact The nine punchouts matched a season high, and just one of Peterson's nine hits allowed went for extra bases. The left-hander has upped his strikeout rate a bit to begin the season, fanning 26 over 22 innings, and he should maintain a rotation spot as long as Sean Manaea (oblique), Frankie Montas (lat) and Paul Blackburn (knee) are each on the shelf. Peterson has a serviceable 3.27 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across four starts, but he's in line for a difficult assignment in next week's scheduled outing against the Phillies.
APRIL 19, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Takes loss despite quality start Peterson (1-1) took the loss Saturday against the Athletics. He allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out five across six innings.
Impact Peterson started out strong by retiring eight of the first nine batters faced, but he ran into trouble in the fourth frame when he gave up four hits and two runs. He was able to recover to get through the next two innings without issue and finished his outing tossing 89 pitches (66 strikes), including 19 first-pitch strikes and eight whiffs, though the 29-year-old southpaw did not receive enough run support from the Mets batters to avoid the loss. Peterson has had a strong start to the season, registering a 2.70 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB across 16.2 innings. He's tentatively slated to face off against the Cardinals at home next week.

In clear to start Saturday Peterson (illness) is listed as the Mets' probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Athletics in Sacramento.
Impact Mets manager Carlos Mendoza acknowledged after Peterson's latest start Sunday against Toronto that the southpaw was dealing with some nauseousness, but Peterson never appeared to be at any major risk of missing his next turn through the rotation. Despite being less than 100 percent and issuing five walks while taking a no-decision against Toronto, Peterson limited the Blue Jays to one run over 4.2 innings, lowering his ERA to 2.53 in the process.
APRIL 8, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Nausea prompts early exit Peterson was removed from Sunday's start against the Blue Jays in the fifth inning due to nausea and blurred vision, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact The left-hander was in clear discomfort during the fifth inning and was finally pulled with two outs after he had two walks and a hit-by-pitch to three straight batters. Prior to that inning, Peterson was pitching well and still allowed just one run across his 4.2 frames. Peterson should be OK for his next turn through the rotation versus the A's next weekend.

Pitches through apparent injury Sunday Peterson appeared to be pitching through an unspecified injury during his start in Sunday's win over the Blue Jays, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. He took a no-decision in the...
Impact Peterson kept the Blue Jays off the board over the first four innings but seemed to be in obvious discomfort while laboring through the top of the fifth. He was visited on the mound on multiple occasions during the inning and issued a pair of walks and also hit a batter to load the bases before manager Carlos Mendoza pulled him from the game. Max Kranick came on from the bullpen and recorded the final out of the inning to strand three runners and allow the Mets to maintain a one-run lead that held up as the difference, but Peterson didn't qualify for the win after narrowly missing out on the five-inning threshold. Mendoza should provide more details regarding Peterson's situation after the game, but for now, the left-hander tentatively lines up to make his next turn through the rotation next weekend versus the Athletics in Sacramento.

Settles in after shaky start Monday Peterson (1-0) picked up the win after giving up two runs on five hits and three walks in six innings Monday against Miami. He struck out nine.
Impact After allowing a solo home run to Otto Lopez in the first inning, Peterson settled in thereafter while receiving plenty of run support. Eric Wagaman did tag Peterson for another solo shot in the sixth frame, but it was an otherwise strong season debut overall for the southpaw. Peterson should remain in New York's rotation as long as Sean Manaea (oblique) is on the injured list, with his next start tentatively scheduled to come this weekend at home against Toronto.
APRIL 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Blanks 'Stros on Wednesday Peterson gave up two hits and three walks over five scoreless innings in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against Houston. He struck out four.
Impact Peterson continued a stingy spring that has seen him post a 0.57 ERA and 12:7 K:BB through 15.2 innings. The 29-year-old lefty has a rotation spot locked up with Sean Manaea (oblique) and Frankie Montas (lat) set to begin the season on the IL, and Peterson is expected to make his first start of 2025 on March 31 in Miami.
MARCH 20, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Dominant in Monday's outing Peterson struck out five over three scoreless innings in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins, giving up one hit without walking a batter.
Impact The southpaw took over from Kodai Senga to begin the third inning and fired 25 of 37 pitches for strikes before hitting the showers. Peterson is coming off the best season of his big-league career in 2024, posting a 2.90 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 101:46 K:BB over a career-high 121 innings, and the Mets are counting on the 29-year-old to help solidify a rotation that will be missing Sean Manaea (oblique) and Frankie Montas (lat) to begin the season.
MARCH 5, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Agrees to deal with New York The Mets and Peterson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract Thursday.
Impact Peterson will be able to skip a hearing in what was his second year of arbitration eligibility. The southpaw's strikeout rate dipped to 19.8 percent in 2024, but he finished with a 2.90 ERA over 21 starts and will open 2025 in the Mets' rotation.
JANUARY 9, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Drawing Game 5 start Peterson will start Game 5 of the NLCS against the Dodgers on Friday, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports.
Impact Peterson last pitched in Game 1 of the NLCS, though he's pitched exclusively out of the bullpen throughout the playoffs. He has yet to complete more than three innings in any of his six postseason appearances, and Kodai Senga sounds likely to also play a significant part of the Mets' plans Friday.
OCTOBER 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Tosses gem to earn 10th win Peterson (10-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing one hit and three walks over seven scoreless innings against the Brewers. He struck out eight.
Impact Peterson saved his best performance for when the Mets needed it most, allowing zero runs for just the second time this year while allowing a measly first-inning infield single to Jackson Chourio. The eight strikeouts matched his second highest total of the season while the scoreless effort dropped his season ERA to an impressive 2.90 over 21 starts spanning 121 innings. The Mets still have work to do to make it into the postseason, but should they advance following Monday's double-header with Atlanta, Peterson would be required to work on short rest if he were to make an appearance in the Wild Card round.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Hurricane prompts postponements Peterson won't pitch as scheduled Wednesday against Atlanta since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Impact Hurricane Helene has caused MLB to postpone both Wednesday's and Thursday's games, which will be made up via a doubleheader Monday if the results of those contests could affect playoff positioning. New York is currently a half-game up on Arizona for the final NL wild-card spot, with Atlanta being just a half-game back of the Diamondbacks. It remains to be seen how the Mets elect to shuffle their rotation, but Peterson could pitch this weekend in Milwaukee.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Stumbles against Phillies Peterson (9-3) took the loss Friday against Philadelphia, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and no walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out four.
Impact The New York southpaw failed to reach the fifth inning for the first time this season, as he allowed a run in every frame during this 64-pitch performance. This is now the second time in three starts Peterson has yielded four earned runs after previously stringing together seven consecutive outings allowing two or fewer runs. The 29-year-old's ERA rose from 2.85 to 3.08 across 114 total innings to go with a 1.33 WHIP and 93:43 K:BB. Peterson looks to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled to be one with tremendous playoff implications at Atlanta next week.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Rebounds against Phillies Peterson didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Philadelphia, allowing one run on four hits and a walk across 7.2 innings. He struck out six.
Impact Peterson and Cristopher Sanchez were locked into a pitchers' duel Sunday, but neither were credited with the victory. Peterson yielded five runs (four earned) in his previous start after yielding two or fewer earned runs in seven consecutive outings. Since the start of August, Peterson is 4-1 with a 2.22 ERA and a 46:17 K:BB across 56.2 innings.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Tough night in Toronto Peterson (9-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks over 4.1 innings as the Mets were downed 6-2 by the Blue Jays. He struck out two...
Impact The southpaw was saddled with his first loss since July 28 as he struggled with his command. While Peterson tossed a respectable 51 of 76 pitches for strikes, he uncorked two wild pitches and plunked a batter, and he gave up some hard contact when he was in the strike zone. He saw his quality start streak end at five, and since the beginning of August he still sports a 2.39 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB through 49 innings, Peterson will look to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Nationals.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Racks up career-high 11 Ks Peterson (9-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over six innings in a 7-2 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out 11.
Impact The 11 strikeouts were a career high for the southpaw, who generated an impressive 20 swinging strikes among his 89 pitches. Peterson has won four straight decisions and has six quality starts in seven trips to the mound since the beginning of August, posting a 1.81 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB through 44.2 innings over that stretch. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Toronto.
