Rehab assignment set for next week Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Wednesday that he expects Jansen (hamstring) to begin a minor-league rehab assignment "by next week," Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Impact Jansen has been on the injured list since July 23 with a right hamstring strain, but he's been working out for nearly two weeks and appears to be nearing the final stage of his recovery process. Since he submitted a lowly .595 OPS in 140 plate appearances on the season prior to landing on the IL, Jansen won't be a lock to take back the No. 1 catching job from either Reese McGuire and Alejandro Kirk once he's cleared to rejoin the big club in the final week or August or early September.

Impact Jansen has been sidelined since July 21 with a right hamstring strain, but he appears to have resumed full baseball activities and could be ready to return from the 10-day injured list within the next week or two. The Blue Jays will likely send Jansen out on a minor-league rehab assignment before activating him.
