Graham Ashcraft - Loses lead in eighth inning Ashcraft did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over eight innings in a 6-3 loss against Washington. He struck out five.
Impact Ashcraft allowed just one run through seven and was a pitch away from escaping the eighth inning with a 3-1 lead, but Joey Meneses smashed a two-run homer to tie the game on Ashcraft's 100th pitch of the night. With that, Ashcraft's night ended on a bit of a sour note, but it was still another positive outing overall for the right-hander. Ashcraft has now turned in six quality starts in his last seven turns, bringing his ERA down to 5.18 for the season.

Alexis Díaz - Takes loss in 10th Diaz (3-3) took the loss Friday against the Nationals. He allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits while striking out three without a walk over 1.2 innings.
Impact After retiring the side in order in the ninth to preserve the tie, Diaz returned for the 10th. He couldn't get through the extra frame as Lane Thomas smacked a two-run homer on Diaz's 32nd pitch of the night. Reds manager David Bell asked a lot of Diaz in this one and the right-hander fell a little short, but if anyone deserves a mulligan, it's Diaz. He still has just one blown save on the year compared to 32 successful save conversions.

Jake Fraley - Unavailable Friday Fraley was unavailable for Friday's game against the Nationals due to an unspecified issue, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Fraley's absence from the starting lineup seemed routine with a lefty (Patrick Corbin) on the mound for the opposition. Reds manager David Bell told the media after the game that Fraley was completely unavailable, though he didn't say why exactly, only that more information would be made available Saturday.

Hayden Wesneski - Three innings in relief Wesneski allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one over three innings in Friday's 8-0 loss to Atlanta.
Impact Wesneski mopped up after starter Kyle Hendricks allowed seven runs over four innings. The Cubs became buyers at the deadline, leaving Wesneski on the outside looking in at a rotation spot, at least for the time being. He threw 50 pitches Friday, with the lone blemish being a homer allowed to Austin Riley in the seventh inning.
