Added to injured list The Red Sox placed Martin on the 15-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to April 13, with right shoulder inflammation.

Impact Martin underwent an MRI before Sunday's game against the Angels and the imaging revealed the inflammation. Jake Faria is replacing the right-hander in the bullpen after having his contract selected from Triple-A Worcester. Martin will be out at least two weeks, but a more realistic timeline should be presented in the coming days.

Impact Smith reports that Martin's MRI occurred on the biceps and shoulder area. The Red Sox are currently dealing with several injuries to their pitching staff, so even if the imaging comes back clean there's a good chance that the right-hander heads to the injured list.

Signs with Red Sox Martin signed a two-year, $17.5 million deal with the Red Sox on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Coming off of a nice 2022 campaign that saw Martin record a 3.05 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through 56 frames, the 36-year-old reliever will provide a nice boost to a Boston bullpen that turned in the fifth-worst ERA (4.59) in baseball last season. Martin will more than likely be turned to often in high-leverage situations, so long as his age doesn't begin to catch up with him.
