Not extended qualifying offer Rodon didn't receive a qualifying offer from the White Sox, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Rodon bounced back in 2021 and posted a 2.37 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 132.2 innings across 24 starts for the White Sox. In spite of his career-best season, the 28-year-old will become a free agent without any draft pick penalty attached.

Takes loss in Game 4 Rodon (0-1) allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three over 2.2 innings in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday in Game 4 of the ALDS.
Impact As Russell Dorsey of The Chicago Sun-Times notes, Rodon was pitching at less than 100 percent after arm and shoulder trouble crept up over the final couple months of the regular season. You couldn't tell early on, as Rodon was pumping fastballs in the high 90s and looked dominant through two innings, though he was eventually touched up a bit in the third before his exit. This may very well have been Rodon's last start in a White Sox uniform; he's never going to be a workhorse, but Rodon pitched brilliantly in his 132.2 innings during the regular season and will likely have several multi-year offers in free agency.

White Sox-Astros Game 4 postponed Rodon and the White Sox won't face the Astros on Monday in Game 4 of the ALDS after the contest was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago, Russell Dorsey of the Chicago Sun...
Impact Game 4 will be made up Tuesday at 1:07 p.m. ET before the series shifts back to Houston for Game 5 on Wednesday. Per Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago, White Sox manager Tony La Russa said the White Sox won't adjust their rotation as a result of the postponement, as Rodon will simply be pushed back a day in the schedule to start Tuesday.
OCTOBER 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Named starter for Game 4 Rodon will start Game 4 of the ALDS against the Astros on Monday if the White Sox win Sunday, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Impact Rodon was hindered by a shoulder injury late in the regular season, but he's optimistic about his health ahead of Monday's contest. The southpaw made six starts across the final two months of the 2021 campaign and posted a 1.93 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 28 innings during that time.
OCTOBER 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Could start Game 4 The White Sox are optimistic that Rodon will be able to start a potential Game 4 of the ALDS against the Astros on Monday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Impact Rodon made Chicago's ALDS roster despite dealing with a shoulder injury late in the regular season. The White Sox dropped the first two games of the series, but the southpaw will likely be in line to start Game 4 if the team wins Sunday's matchup.

OCTOBER 9, 2021 • DAILYHERALD.COM
Included on ALDS roster Rodon was included on the White Sox's ALDS roster, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Impact Rodon dealt with a shoulder issue late in the regular season and wasn't guaranteed a spot on the ALDS roster, but he'll be available for the series against Houston. It wouldn't be surprising to see the southpaw claim a starting role during the postseason, especially after Dallas Keuchel was left off the roster for the best-of-five series.
OCTOBER 7, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Postseason status uncertain Manager Tony La Russa said he doesn't know if Rodon will be on the ALDS roster, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Impact The lefty will throw a bullpen Tuesday, after which the team will evaluate him and his shoulder. He threw five scoreless innings Wednesday but displayed unusually low velocity, casting doubt on his ability to compete with a lineup like Houston's in the postseason. Updates on his bullpen and potential availability going forward should become clear by Thursday.
OCTOBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Passes test Rodon (13-5) allowed one hit and two walks while striking out four over five scoreless innings to earn the win over the Reds on Wednesday.
Impact Rodon was making his first start since Sept. 20, when he threw just three innings and 69 pitches before departing with shoulder discomfort. Though his results Wednesday were solid enough, the lefty's velocity was down noticeably, making it difficult to feel optimistic about his prospects heading into the postseason. Moreover, Rodon hasn't pitched more than five innings over his last eight outings, so the White Sox are unlikely to count on him to be a workhorse in the playoffs.

Scherzer, Ohtani, Harper and more: FOX Sports hands out MVP and Cy Young awards
Cleared for Wednesday start White Sox manager Tony La Russa said Rodon (arm) will start Wednesday's game against the Reds in Chicago after the southpaw completed a bullpen session Monday, James Fegan of The A...
Impact La Russa was hopeful that a week and a half away from game action would provide sufficient time for Rodon to overcome his bout with left arm soreness, but the skipper noted that the All-Star's side session was merely "OK." Rodon still proved healthy enough in the workout to gain clearance for his final start of the regular season, but it wouldn't be surprising if he had a short leash Wednesday as the White Sox aim to keep him fresh for the playoffs. With that in mind, Rodon isn't necessarily the must-start option this week that his stellar 2.47 ERA over 23 outings this season would normally make him.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Next start pushed back Rodon (arm) is expected to make his next start Sept. 29 against the Reds, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Impact Rodon is having an excellent season, striking out 35.1 percent of opposing batters en route to a 2.47 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 23 starts. He's being handled very cautiously down the stretch as the White Sox try to keep him healthy for the playoffs, getting eight and nine days of rest prior to his previous two starts. He exited his start Monday against the Tigers after just three innings due to left arm soreness, and it looks as though the White Sox will give him a similar length of time off before his next trip to the mound. That means he'll make at most one more start before the end of the regular season.

Reports soreness vs. Tigers Rodon experienced soreness during Monday's start against Detroit, and the team is uncertain as to when he'll make his next start, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. He didn't fac...
Impact The White Sox have been cautious with their southpaw down the stretch of the regular season, but Rodon still hasn't felt quite right out on the bump of late. Skipper Tony La Russa stated Rodon will need to be examined and reassessed following Monday's outing, per Fegan, which will likely take place over the next few days. The outcome of this assessment will determine the date of his next start. Interestingly enough, Rodon described his own soreness after the contest as "normal soreness" and "nothing crazy," per Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2021 • Associated Press
To start against Tigers Rodon will next take the mound sometime during the White Sox's upcoming series against the Tigers, which runs from Monday through Wednesday, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago report...
Impact The White Sox have been giving Rodon extra rest between his starts as they look to keep him fresh for the postseason. The decision seems to be a sensible one, as he's thrown 124.2 innings already this season after throwing a combined 42.1 over the previous two years. He'll get anywhere between nine and 11 days off between starts this time around and is only expected to make two more total starts before the end of the regular season.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Next start not determined White Sox manager Tony La Russa said it's uncertain when Rodon will pitch next, Brian Sandalow of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact Those were La Russa's comments prior to Friday's win over Boston, which the manager described as "very important" for many reasons. Apparently, the team would like to evaluate how Rodon feels following the start to determine his next outing. That the manager is considering a six-man rotation, per Sandalow, is a sign that he wants to build in an extra day of rest for Rodon, who is 7-2 with a 1.69 ERA with six or more days of rest. The White Sox don't have another open date until Sept. 27, and Rodon is up to 124.2 innings after throwing 42.1 combined over the last two seasons. Questions about his durability arose last month, when Rodon experienced a drop in velocity and missed time due to shoulder fatigue. The left-hander is tentatively scheduled to pitch Friday on six days rest, and by adding Reynaldo Lopez to the rotation, Rodon could get an extra day for the remainder of the season.

Carlos Rodon's strong start and Jose Abreu's 3-run home run fuel the Chicago White Sox to a 4-3 win over the Boston Red Sox CHICAGO — Chicago White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon received a test in the third inning of his first start since Sept. 1.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2021 • KANSASCITY.COM
Earns win in return Rodon (12-5) allowed one run on three hits over five innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over Boston.
Impact Rodon made his first appearance since Sept. 1 after nursing a slight shoulder injury. He threw 62 of 86 pitches for strikes and the only blemish on his outing was a solo homer by Bobby Dalbec in the fifth inning. Over his last four starts, the 28-year-old southpaw has given up just four runs over 20 innings (1.80 ERA) with a 26:4 K:BB. Rodon will carry a 2.38 ERA into his projected start against the Angels at home next week.
