Phillips has only logged eight plate appearances overall in Tampa, however, drawing the start in just two of his first nine games with the club.

Impact Phillips needs to undergo intake testing for COVID-19 prior to joining his new team, and his placement on the injured list will free up a spot on the 40-man roster for newly-acquired Cody Reed. Phillips will be eligible for reinstatement once he produces a negative COVID-19 test.

Traded to Rays Phillips was traded from the Royals to the Rays on Thursday in exchange for Lucius Fox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Impact Phillips saw limited playing time while serving as outfield depth in Kansas City and hit .226 with two RBI and three stolen bases over 18 games. He should play a similar role with the Rays. The 26-year-old's fantasy upside seems limited even if he sees a slight uptick in playing time, as he carries a .205 batting average with 126 strikeouts in the majors over parts of four seasons.
