Ryan O'Hearn - Taking seat versus southpaw
O'Hearn is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Tigers.
Impact
The left-handed-hitting O'Hearn doesn't always sit against left-handed pitching, but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Tigers send tough southpaw Tarik Skuball to the rubber. Jackson Holliday is getting a start in the designated hitter spot.

Cedric Mullins - Day off against Skubal
Mullins is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Tigers.
Impact
It's lefty ace Tarik Skubal on the bump for the Tigers, so the left-handed-hitting Mullins will receive a day off. Colton Cowser will slide over to center field and Dylan Carlson will handle left field for the Orioles.

Emmanuel Rivera - Outrighted to Norfolk
Rivera cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact
Rivera was dropped from Baltimore's 40-man roster Tuesday after slashing .232/.303/.275 across 76 plate appearances in the majors, but he'll officially remain with the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 28-year-old's OPS jumps up to .708 in Triple-A, but he'll likely need to perform significantly better in order to get another shot with the big club.

Gary Sánchez - Could be activated this week
Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Thursday that Sanchez (wrist) has a chance to be activated before the conclusion of the team's homestand Sunday, Jake Rill of MLB.com re...
Impact
Sanchez is 8-for-20 with three home runs in six rehab games with Triple-A Norfolk and is coming along more quickly than expected. He's been shelved since late April due to right wrist inflammation but looks to have a good shot to return for this weekend's series against the Angels.

Samuel Basallo - Mashing as youngest Triple-A hitter
Basallo is slashing .244/.360/.578 with 13 home runs, a 14.9 percent walk rate and a 24.8 percent strikeout rate in 40 games for Triple-A Norfolk.
Impact
Basallo is the youngest hitter at Triple-A, as he doesn't turn 21 until August, yet he is one of the best power hitters at the level. Among Triple-A hitters with at least 150 plate appearances, Basallo's .333 ISO ranks second behind 34-year-old Carlos Perez. He isn't on the 40-man roster yet, but Basallo appears ready for the next level, at least offensively.

Tyler O'Neill - Renewed shoulder soreness on rehab
O'Neill is sitting out a second straight rehab game at Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday due to renewed left shoulder soreness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.comreports.
Impact
O'Neill went 4-for-10 at the plate in his first three rehab contests, starting at designated hitter in the first game and in right field for the next two. However, the left shoulder impingement that sent him to the 10-day injured list nearly a month ago is evidently still giving him problems. O'Neill is expected to receive "a few days rest," per Kubatko, so the Orioles seem to think it's not a significant setback. However, O'Neill's activation wouldn't appear imminent.

Dean Kremer - No longer starting Thursday
Kremer won't start Thursday's game against the Tigers but could work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Keegan Akin, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact
The Orioles haven't officially confirmed that Kremer is on track to pitch Thursday, but he was previously listed as the team's scheduled starter and hasn't been reported to be dealing with an injury, so the belief is that he'll enter the contest after Akin covers the first inning or two. Kremer has made all but one of his 108 career MLB appearances as a starter, but the Orioles may be looking to see if working in bulk relief helps enhance his performance. The right-hander is coming off a rough start last Friday against the Athletics in which he gave up five earned runs on eight hits and one walk over 5.1 innings.

Keegan Akin - Serving as opener Thursday
Akin will serve as the Orioles' opening pitcher in Thursday's game versus the Tigers, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact
Dean Kremer had been scheduled to start, but Kremer now appears slated to serve as a bulk reliever. Akin has opened twice for the Orioles this season, tossing a combined 2.2 frames in those outings.

Jordan Westburg - Homers again Wednesday
Westburg went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a double in Wednesday's 10-1 win over the Tigers.
Impact
Westburg delivered the final blow in Baltimore's seven-run eighth inning, tucking a Beau Brieske fastball inside the left-field foul pole for his sixth homer of the year. Westburg has certainly hit the ground running since returning from over a month on the IL, homering in back-to-back games. Overall, the 26-year-old Westburg is slashing .232/.290/.465 with 14 runs scored and 10 RBI across 107 plate appearances this season.

Ramón UrÃas - Homer, stolen base in win
Urias went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-1 win over Detroit.
Impact
Urias opened the scoring Wednesday with a 380-foot shot off Casey Mize, his third homer of the year and first since April 26. The 31-year-old Urias has been Baltimore's primary option at third base for most of the year, though he's likely to lose some playing time (despite Wednesday's effort) following Jordan Westburg's return from the IL. Overall, Urias is slashing .278/.335/.377 with 21 RBI and 16 runs scored through 173 plate appearances this season.
