Matt Olson - Knocks three hits
Olson went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 loss to San Francisco.
Impact
Olson accounted for half of Atlanta's hits. He earned his third multi-hit effort in the last four games, a span that includes two doubles. The first baseman is still in a bit of a power drought -- that pair of two-baggers represents his only extra-base hits since his last homer, which came June 12 versus the Mets. Olson is batting .276 with an .875 OPS, 20 homers, 52 RBI, 54 runs scored, 21 doubles and two stolen bases over 82 contests this season.

Chris Sale - Strikes out 10 in loss
Sale (8-6) allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out 10 over six innings, taking the loss versus San Francisco on Sunday.
Impact
Sale was good, throwing 68 of 94 pitches for strikes, but Robbie Ray was a little more efficient in this pitching duel. Sale hadn't completed six innings in any of his last four outings, giving up nine runs (seven earned) over 22 frames in that span. This was his second game with double-digit strikeouts this season. The star southpaw has a 2.10 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 109:22 K:BB through 90 innings across 15 starts this season. Sale is projected to make his next start at home versus the Mets.

Dominic Smith - Heading to bench Sunday
Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact
The left-handed-hitting Smith will head to the bench while southpaw Robbie Ray takes the hill for the Giants. With Smith out of the lineup, Drake Baldwin will get a day from catching but will stick in the starting nine at designated hitter.

Mike Yastrzemski - Sitting against southpaw
Yastrzemski is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact
Though he'll hit the bench while southpaw Robbie Ray takes the hill for the Giants, Yastrzemski still appears to have a hold on a strong-side platoon role in the corner outfield. Yastrzemski has been seeing most of his starts in right field of late but should slide over to left field on a more regular basis once Ronald Acuna (hamstring) eventually returns from the injured list.

Eli White - Losing time versus righties
White is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact
Though he'll draw a start Sunday while lefty Robbie Ray toes the rubber for the Giants, the right-handed-hitting White has seen his opportunities to play against right-handed pitching dwindle of late. Atlanta has used Ha-Seong Kim at shortstop in its past two matchups versus righties, resulting in Mauricio Dubon moving into a corner-outfield spot and bumping White from the lineup on both occasions.

Drake Baldwin - Serving as DH
Baldwin is batting fifth as the designated hitter Sunday against the Giants.
Impact
It's the 10th start in 11 games since Baldwin returned from the injured list in mid-June. The 25-year-old homered in his first game back from the oblique strain but overall has struggled, going 2-for-39 with a walk and 20 strikeouts. That poor stretch has lowered his OPS for the season from .931 to .813 through 58 contests.

Grant Holmes - Used in long relief
Holmes allowed one hit and no walks while striking out four across four scoreless innings out of the bullpen during Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Giants.
Impact
Manager Walt Weiss indicated that Holmes would be available as a reliever this weekend if needed, and the skipper called upon the right-hander after starter Bryce Elder surrendered five runs across four innings. Holmes lasted fewer than five frames in each of his last three starts and had a 6.10 ERA, 2.03 WHIP and 8:10 K:BB across 10.1 innings during those appearances, but the strong showing out of the bullpen could help him to get back on track. The 30-year-old was expected to make his usual turn through the starting rotation this week if he went unused in relief, so he should slot back into the rotation next weekend versus the Mets after the bullpen appearance.

Carlos Carrasco - Back with Atlanta
Carrasco agreed to a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Sunday, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports.
Impact
The 39-year-old elected free agency after being designated for assignment by Atlanta on Wednesday, but he'll return to the club on a minor-league deal for the sixth time in 2026. Carrasco has pitched decently in the majors this year with a 3.68 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 6:1 K:BB across 14.2 relief innings.
