Traded to White Sox The White Sox have agreed to acquire Civale in a trade with the Brewers, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Impact There's no word yet on what the Brewers will receive in return. Civale requested a trade after being told earlier this week that he would be demoted to the bullpen, and Milwaukee has accommodated the request. The veteran right-hander last pitched Monday, so he could join Chicago's rotation as soon as Saturday against the Rangers.

Requests trade from Brewers Civale has requested a trade from the Brewers, Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic report.
Impact Civale was informed by manager Pat Murphy recently that he would be moved to the bullpen to accommodate the arrival of top prospect Jacob Misiorowski, who will join the rotation Thursday. However, Civale's agent, Jack Toffey, has formally made a request to Brewers general manager Matt Arnold that his client be traded to a team where he can continue being used as a starting pitcher. The Brewers are under no obligation to honor the request, but there should be interest in Civale if the club decides a trade is best for both parties. Civale has been limited to five starts this season due to a strained hamstring, posting a 4.91 ERA and 19:7 K:BB over 22 innings. The 30-year-old is making $8 million this season and is set to become a free agent this offseason.

Shifting to bullpen Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Wednesday that Civale will move to the bullpen for the time being, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
Impact Jacob Misiorowski is joining the rotation Thursday and the Brewers want to stick with a traditional five-man setup, so Civale is the odd man out. It's possible Civale eventually rejoins the rotation if Misiorowski struggles, although the Brewers hope to get Brandon Woodruff (shoulder/ankle/elbow) in the coming weeks.

Unable to complete five frames Civale (1-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 4.2 innings.
Impact Civale worked around frequent traffic to get through four scoreless frames, but he ran into trouble in the fifth. In that inning, Ronald Acuna tagged the right-hander for a solo home run, and Civale was pulled after allowing a two-out double to Austin Riley. Riley came around to score one batter later, saddling Civale with the loss. The veteran hurler did manage to tie a season high with five punchouts, and he's now given up two or fewer runs in all four of his starts since coming off the injured list May 22, though he's topped out at 5.1 frames during that span. Civale is tentatively slated to take on St. Louis in his next start.

Season-high five Ks in first win Civale (1-1) earned the win Monday against the Reds after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk in 5.1 innings. He struck out five.
Impact Civale has given the Brewers some quality innings since coming off the injured list, having now surrendered five runs over his last 14.1 frames. The veteran right-hander set a new season high in punchouts despite yielding a season-worst seven hits Monday, and he now carries a 3.14 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB across his last three outings. Civale is tentatively lined up to toe the slab this weekend versus the Padres, although it remains to be seen if Brandon Woodruff (ankle) will be ready to make his season debut and potentially change the current arrangement of Milwaukee's rotation.

Pitches well against Red Sox Civale allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out four in five innings Tuesday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Civale blanked the Red Sox through five innings while tossing 75 pitches. He returned for the sixth and was met with a ground rule double from Ceddanne Rafaela to end his night. Rafaela would come around to score for the game's first run and leave Civale in line for the loss. It was a needed bounce back outing for Civale who came in allowing seven runs and four homers in seven innings. Civale lines up to make his third road start of the season next week against the Reds.
