
CFP highlights: Washington holds on to defeat Texas; Michigan beats Alabama in OT
The College Football Playoff National Championship is set!
Fans were treated to a pair of outstanding semifinal matchups as both games came down to the wire.
In the first CFP semifinal, J.J. McCarthy threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns, and Blake Corum added 83 yards on the ground and the game-winning touchdown run in overtime to lead the Michigan Wolverines to a memorable 27-20 win over Alabama.
The second CFP semifinal game was also riveting, as Heisman finalist Michael Penix Jr. threw for 430 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Washington Huskies to a thrilling 37-31 win over Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl.
Michigan and Washington will meet in the CFP National Championship on Jan. 8 in Houston.
