Impact Edwards' lower body injury he sustained in the opener against Miami (OH) wasn't believed to be severe, but it does look like it'll keep the gunslinger out of action for Week 2 against the Blue Raiders. Danny O'Neil should get the start for the Badgers, and he was solid once he settled in, accounting for two total touchdowns and completing 63.2 percent of his passes for 120 yards.

Impact Before a final word on Edwards' injury is expected Saturday or Sunday, Hummer stated that there is hope the quarterback will be available for Week 3, when Wisconsin and Alabama play. Hummer's statement implies that Edwards is likely to sit out Week 2, which includes the Badgers hosting Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 6. Billy Edwards Jr. - Will not return Thursday Edwards (lower body) has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday's game versus Miami (OH), Nick Osen of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact Edwards was ruled out for the game coming out of the half. He suffered a non-contact left knee injury while making a handoff in the second quarter but was able to limp off the field under his own power. The initial look doesn't seem promising for Edwards, but it's expected the team will conduct further tests to determine the severity of his injury. Danny O'Neil will man the offense the rest of the way.
