Demond Claiborne - Non-contact practice Wednesday Claiborne (ribs) logged a non-contact practice, Les Johns of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact Claiborne's non-contact practice indicates that he is still not ready for Saturday, the Demon Deacons against Western Carolina. Their head coach Jake Dickert's silence does not help matters. Leaning doubtful, Claiborne's injury status remains questionable for Week 2.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Chris Barnes - Trio of catches in Week 1 Barnes hauled in 3 of 4 targets for 23 yards during Friday's 10-9 victory versus Kennesaw State.
Impact Barnes, a redshirt freshman, didn't log a ton of snaps during the season opener, but he frequently got open. He tied for the third most targets and second most receptions. The speedster caught two passes in three games with Washington State last season.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Carlos Hernandez - Leads team in targets Hernandez hauled in 3 of 6 targets for 20 yards during Friday's 10-9 win against Kennesaw State.
Impact Hernandez's six targets were the most of any Wake Forest wideout, but he turned those opportunities into just three catches for 20 yards. He was initially listed as a co-starter for the contest, but he has seemingly already established a strong rapport with starting quarterback Robby Ashford.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Micah Mays Jr. - Draws five targets Mays posted three receptions (on five targets) for 33 yards during Friday's 10-9 win against Kennesaw State.
Impact Mays finished with the second most targets on the team during Friday's opener. He ranked third in receiving yards and tied for second in receptions. He had a relatively quiet 2024 season, totaling 16 catches for 218 yards and two touchdowns, but the sophomore looks to be a key part of the 2025 Demon Deacon offense.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Sterling Berkhalter - Three catches in 2025 debut Berkhalter caught all three targets for 34 yards during Friday's 10-9 win versus Kennesaw State.
Impact Berkhalter was one of five pass catchers to log at least three receptions during Friday's season opener, and his 34 receiving yards ranked second on the team. After logging 191 receiving yards with Cincinnati during 2024, Berkhalter is set to take on a larger role in a subpar Demon Deacons' passing game.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Eni Falayi - Paces WF pass catchers Falayi gathered in all four targets for 52 yards during Friday's 10-9 win versus Kennesaw State.
Impact Falayi's four catches and 52 receiving yards were both team highs, though he was one of five pass catchers to reel in at least three receptions. Falayi tied for the third most targets on the team. Falayi transferred to Wake Forest after logging 31 catches for 417 yards and five touchdowns in six games last season for Utah Tech.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
JaMario Clements - Handles 11 carries in opener Clements posted 11 rushes for 26 yards and hauled in 1 of 2 targets for seven yards during Friday's 10-9 win versus Kennesaw State.
Impact Clements and Ty Clark worked in tandem after starting RB Demond Claiborne went down with a rib injury during the first half. Clements and Clark each saw 11 carries, though Clements was less productive with his opportunities. If Claiborne can't go in Week 2, Clements would see an expanded workload once again.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Ty Clark III - Steps up in Week 1 Clark totaled 11 rushes for 37 yards and reeled in all two targets for eight yards during Friday's 10-9 victory against Kennesaw State.
Impact Clark and JaMario Clements were forced into larger roles during Week 1 after Demond Claiborne suffered a rib injury during the first half. Clark and Clements both saw 11 carries, but Clark outgained Clements 37 to 26. Should Claiborne miss Wake Forest's Week 2 matchup against Western Carolina, the duo should continue to split carries.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Robby Ashford - Decent outing in Week 1 Ashford was 20-for-28 passing for 218 yards during Friday's 10-9 win versus Kennesaw State. He also had 18 rushes for 42 yards with one touchdown.
Impact Ashford was efficient and had a solid rushing day during Wake Forest's season opener, but he left plenty to be desired in terms of touchdown production as the Demon Deacons mustered up just 10 points against Kennesaw State. Ashford isn't known for his passing ability, but his rushing upside makes him an intriguing fantasy option. However, Wake Forest's lack of production against an inferior Owls team isn't exactly a sign of good things to come.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Demond Claiborne - Deemed day-to-day Claiborne (ribs) is considered day-to-day for Wake Forest, per Cam Lemons Debro of 247Sports.com.
Impact This is overall good news for Wake Forest and its star tailback Claiborne. He logged just three carries for 19 yards before being removed from the Demon Deacons' opener against Kennesaw State with a rib injury. He appears to have dodged a major bullet with his injury, but he remains highly questionable for Week 2 versus Western Carolina. Ty Clark saw 11 carries in his stead.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
David Egbe - Still not used for games Egbe (undisclosed) did not play during Wake Forest's 10-9 win Friday against Kennesaw State.
Impact Wake Forest's team began its 2025 season Friday. Even though fellow running back Demond Claiborne (rib) suffered a game-ending injury, Egbe did not play, and he remains out indefinitely.

Demond Claiborne - Won't return due to rib injury Claiborne won't return to Friday's game against Kennesaw State due to a rib injury, Conor O'Neill of Rivals.com reports.
Impact Claiborne suffered the injury in the first half and was deemed unavailable to return for the second half. That's a huge loss for Wake Forest, as he was expected to lead the rushing attack for the Demon Deacons. Ty Clark and JaMario Clements are expected to shoulder the backfield load in the absence of Claiborne.

Wake Forest names transfer Robby Ashford its starting quarterback for opener against Kennesaw State

Wake Forest has named transfer Robby Ashford as the starting quarterback for Jake Dickert's coaching debut against Kennesaw State on Friday
AUGUST 25, 2025 • Associated Press
Carlos Hernandez - Labeled as co-starter Hernandez is listed as a co-starter for Wake Forest's opener against Kennesaw State on Friday night, per Cam Lemons Debro of 247Sports.com.
Impact There's plenty of "Or's" on this opening depth chart, and it appears new head coach Jake Dickert isn't trying to reveal too much. Still, Hernandez sharing a spot with Chris Barnes is noteworthy for the transfer from Washington State. Last fall with the Cougars, he reeled in 31 grabs for 397 yards and five scores. He'll look to bring that big play ability to Winston-Salem.
AUGUST 25, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Deshawn Purdie - Beginning season as backup Purdie will begin the 2025 season in a backup role as fellow quarterback Robby Ashford has been named the starter heading into Wake Forest's season opener, per On3.com.
Impact Purdie was part of a position battle over the starting spot with Ashford throughout the offseason but appears set to serve as the primary backup to Ashford, at least to start the season. The 6-foot-4 signal caller joined the Demon Deacons after transferring in from Charlotte in the offseeason, where he threw for 1,802 yards and 10 touchdowns to six interceptions across nine games in 2024.
AUGUST 24, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Robby Ashford - Named starting quarterback Ashford will serve as Wake Forest's starting quarterback, per On3.com.
Impact Ashford won the starting role after having been competing with Deshawn Purdie and Conor O'Neil throughout the summer. Ashford played two seasons at Auburn before transferring to South Carolina ahead of last season where he completed 23 of 32 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns in addition to carrying the ball 41 times for 227 yards and two touchdowns in eight games.
