Emari Demercado News, Rumors, Updates - TCU Horned Frogs

Heading to NFL Demercado announced Jan. 16 via his personal Twitter account that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at TCU to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Impact Demercado will move to the professional ranks following a five-year career at TCU that was proceeded by a one-year stint in the JuCo ranks with Saddleback College in 2017. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound back submitted a stellar redshirt senior season in which he carried 121 times for 681 yards and six touchdowns while operating as the top backup to Kendre Miller. With Miller also making the jump to the professional ranks, incoming Alabama transfer Trey Sanders could be positioned to headline in the Horned Frogs' running-back corps in 2023.

Impact Demercado had a fantastic game against Michigan in the CFP semifinal, collecting a season-high 150 yards rushing and a touchdown on 17 carries. His backfield mate, Kendre Miller, was spotted warming up but was doing so "gingerly." TCU will need another dominant performance from Demercado if they hope to upset Georgia and complete their Cinderella run.

Impact Demercado has four touchdowns scattered across four games with TCU this season. There's definitely some scoring regression on the horizon as he is averaging just six rushing attempts per game. Kendre Miller remains the Horned Frogs' top running back and quarterback Max Duggan also likes to scramble. TCU will play at Kansas next week.

Impact Demercado was able to add a pair of rushing scores in the fourth quarter of the win in front a sellout crowd at SMU. He's taken full advantage of his limited opportunities in 2022 with three touchdowns on 17 total touches. Kendre Miller is the top back in TCU's offense and was also great against the Mustangs with 142 yards and a rushing score on 17 carries. Miller is still the player to roster in TCU's backfield. TCU will host Oklahoma next week.
