J.P. Estrella - Scores 10, grabs seven boards
Estrella logged 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and one block across 18 minutes during Sunday's 94-52 win over Gardner-Webb.
Impact
Estrella took advantage of extra playing time with his best game since Nov. 12. He opened the season with three strong performances, but has been limited to three 10-point games and four single-digit scoring performances. He played 20 minutes in each of those first three games, but has only topped 13 minutes once (on Sunday). If he can work his way back into the forward rotation for the Volunteers, Estrella could be a player to watch.

Nate Ament - Slump continues with eight points
Ament finished with eight points (3-8 FG, 2-7 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal across 19 minutes during Sunday's 94-52 win over Gardner-Webb.
Impact
After scoring 15 points or more in his first six games, the 6-10 freshman has only topped that figure once in his last six games. In that span, Ament has only converted 30.3 percent of his field goals and 26.9 percent of his 3-pointers. He only has one non-conference game - against South Carolina State on Dec. 30 - to get himself on track.

Ja'Kobi Gillespie - Scores team-high 23
Gillespie posted 23 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 10-10 FT), three rebounds and five assists across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 83-62 victory over Louisville.
Impact
Gillespie had his fifth 20-point game and first since Nov. 25. He has taken at least six 3-pointers in all but one game and is converting 34.5 percent of his long-range shots on his way to a team-leading 17.8 points. The Maryland transfer has no fewer than four assists in every game and is averaging 5.4 dimes.

Jaylen Carey - Gets second double-double
Carey supplied 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-10 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals over 23 minutes during Tuesday's 83-62 win over Louisville.
Impact
Carey has scored in double digits in four of his last five games. With Cade Phillips (shoulder) out for the rest of the season, the 6-8 junior should see more minutes. He is a load around the basket and is converting 57.0 percent of his field goals. Carey has at least three assists in three of his last four games. He should have value in deeper Tier 1 leagues going forward.

DeWayne Brown II - Starts, grabs five boards
Brown recorded zero points (0-1 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 16 minutes during Tuesday's 83-62 victory over Louisville.
Impact
Brown joined the starting lineup for Cade Phillips (shoulder) who had season-ending surgery. The 6-8 freshman equaled his season high in rebounds despite going scoreless for the first time this season. He came into the game averaging 5.5 points and 3.1 rebounds. As a starter, Brown might see a slight bump in value. He could get quality minutes against Gardner-Webb on Sunday.

Cade Phillips - Undergoing season-ending surgery
Phillips will undergo surgery on his left shoulder that will sideline him for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, Mike Wilson of the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.
Impact
Phillips dislocated his shoulder in January and dislocated it once again over the offseason, forcing him to wear a brace for all of this season. The forward will undergo surgery to address the injury. Phillips started in nine of 10 appearances this season, averaging 3.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks across 16.9 minutes overall. Jaylen Carey is the favorite to replace Phillips in the starting lineup.

Ja'Kobi Gillespie - Scores team-high 15
Gillespie chipped in 15 points (6-20 FG, 3-9 3Pt), five rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes during Saturday's 75-62 loss to Illinois.
Impact
Gillespie was the only Volunteer who scored in double digits as the team was held below 65 points for the second straight game. The 6-1 senior has been getting by on volume. In his last four games, he has converted just 31.3 percent of his field goals and 27.3 percent of his 3-pointers. Gillespie has scored in double digits in all of those games, but Tennessee will need him to make more shots to snap their three-game losing streak against Louisville on Tuesday.

J.P. Estrella - Returns from ankle injury
Estrella (ankle) finished Saturday's 75-62 loss to Illinois with four points (2-5 FG) and three rebounds across seven minutes.
Impact
After playing 20 minutes in the first three games of the season, the 6-11 sophomore has not played more than 13 in his last five. His production has expectedly dipped with just 7.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in that span. As he returns from his ankle injury, perhaps Estrella will return to his double-double production in early November. The Volunteers take on Louisville on Tuesday.

Estrella (ankle) is set to return to action for Saturday night's game against Illinois, Mike Wilson of the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.
Impact
Estrella was sidelined for one game due to an ankle injury but is set to return to the rotation in a home meeting with the Illini. The sophomore big man has been incredibly efficient when on the floor, averaging 12 points and five rebounds in 14.4 minutes per contest.

J.P. Estrella - Questionable against Illinois
Estrella (ankle) is questionable for Saturday's game versus Illinois, per Ben McKee of 247Sports.com.
Impact
Estrella missed the Volunteers' most recent 62-60 loss against Syracuse with the same ankle injury, and he's now in jeopardy of being out for back-to-back games. The sophomore big man's status should be determined based on his ability to warm up ahead of the big home game.
