Impact Zeigler's case was considered a long shot after appearing in 138 games across four seasons at Tennessee, and though he may attempt to appeal, the point guard job appears to be Gillespie's as of mid-June. This is likely what Gillespie was planning on and influenced his decision to come to Tennessee for his final year of eligibility. Gillespie put up 14.7 ppg and 4.8 apg last season with the Terps, but those numbers may be tough to replicate with Tennessee playing at a significantly reduced tempo than Maryland, even if Gillespie has the job to himself.

Zakai Zeigler - Preliminary injunction denied Zeigler's plea to the NCAA for a fifth year of eligibility was denied by a Tennessee court Thursday morning, Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports reports.
Impact Zeigler had been attempting to argue for a fifth season of eligibility, but it appears his case will not make it any further. Barring an unforeseen successful appeal, he'll now have to move on to the professional level. As far as Tennessee basketball goes, Maryland transfer Ja'Kobi Gillespie (14.7 ppg, 4.8 apg) is now in line to take over as the Vols' starting point guard in 2025-26.
