Impact Ejiofor hasn't quite made the big leap that was expected in his second season with St. John's, as he has just one double-double through six games, and both his scoring (14.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg) are down a bit from last season's marks. That's at least due in part to the presence of transfer Bryce Hopkins in the frontcourt, who led the team with 26 in Tuesday's tilt. Ejiofor's outlook remains positive, and his busy game week will continue with another high-profile matchup against Auburn on Wednesday in the Players Era Festival.

Nate Heise - Dishes six assists in first start Heise racked up eight points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals across 39 minutes during Tuesday's 78-60 win over Creighton.

Impact Heise made his first start of the season with leading scorer Tamin Lipsey sidelined by a groin injury, and the end result was a solid all-around stat line and the Cyclones maintaining their undefeated record. Lipsey is considered day-to-day, so Heise may get another opportunity for extended run when Iowa State faces off against Syracuse in the Players Era Festival on Wednesday.

Bryce Hopkins - Posts 26 as Johnnies roll Hopkins posted 26 points (9-12 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 96-81 win over Baylor.

Impact Hopkins now has 15 or more points in five consecutive contests, bringing his season-long scoring average up to a team-best 17.3 ppg. He's been able to do so despite seeing just 24.7 minutes per game, due largely to a boost in efficiency, as the fifth-year senior is currently shooting a career-best 51.1 percent from the field.

Blake Buchanan - Solid contribution down low Buchanan chipped in 12 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 FT), nine rebounds, one block and two steals in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 78-60 victory over Creighton.

Impact Buchanan reached double figures in the scoring column for the second time this season while finishing one rebound shy of a double double during the win. He also contributed on the other end of the court with a block and two steals. The junior big man topped 30 minutes for the second time this season, in part due to his ability to stay out of foul trouble and in part due to the loss of Tamin Lipsey tightening up TJ Otzelberger's rotation. Buchanan averaged 5.4 points, 5.3 boards and 1.1 blocks across 21.9 minutes last season for Virginia and has increased his production to 8.3 points and 5.8 rebounds while sending back 1.5 shots per game while playing a very similar 23.5 minutes per contest.
