Returning to Duke
Ngongba will return to Duke for his junior season, the program announced.
Impact
Ngongba was Duke's starting center as a sophomore before he suffered a foot injury that knocked him out for five games and limited him to a bench role upon his return. Still, he took big strides in his second season in Durham, averaging 10.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 blocks while shooting 61 percent from the field. This is a big-time retention for the Blue Devils' frontcourt.

Ready to roll in Sweet 16
Ngongba (undisclosed) is available against St. John's in the Sweet 16 on Friday.
Impact
Ngongba was deemed questionable on the Blue Devils' initial injury report, but the sophomore center has been cleared on the final injury report three hours before tip-off. He missed five games from March 7 to March 19, but returned in the Round of 32 against TCU. Ngongba broke out in his sophomore season, averaging 10.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while starting 28 of 30 games -- his return is a big deal against a team that thrives in the paint like St. John's.

Well-rounded effort in return
Ngongba (foot) closed with four points (2-2 FG), four rebounds, four assists and one block in 13 minutes during Saturday's 81-58 victory over TCU.
Impact
Ngongba was questionable for the Blue Devils after missing five straight games, but he returned to action against TCU in the Round of 32 and was active all over the court in a limited 13 minutes. Though he came off the bench, he was still impactful with four points, four boards and four assists. He'll now have a few days to rest up before Duke plays in the Sweet 16 next weekend.

Expected to play vs. TCU
Ngongba (foot) is expected to play against TCU in the Round of 32, per Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports.
Impact
Ngongba reportedly arrived to the arena on a scooter Saturday, but he still looked good in practice and is expected to be available for the Blue Devils. He notably isn't a part of Duke's starting lineup against the Horner Frogs, but there's still a chance he could come off the bench and provide crucial minutes up front. Ngongba averages 10.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks this season.

Question mark for Saturday
Ngongba (foot) is questionable for Duke's clash with TCU in the Round of 32 on Saturday.
Impact
Ngongba's return is still up in the air for the Blue Devils, who escaped a scare from Siena in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in their fifth straight game without the sophomore center. Ngongba has a shot to return as Duke tries to advance to the Sweet 16, but he could be trending towards being a game-time decision. He averages 10.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks this season.

'Very unlikely' to face Siena
Ngongba (foot) is "very unlikely" to play in the Round of 64 against Siena on Thursday according to head coach Jon Scheyer, per Anna Snyder of The Fayetteville Observer.
Impact
Ngongba has missed the last four games for Duke, and all signs point to the starting center making it five straight absences. The Blue Devils should still have no problem rolling over 16-seeded Siena, but they'll certainly miss Ngongba, who averages 10.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
