Named Big East Freshman of the Year McNeeley has been named the 2024-2025 Big East Freshman of the Year, Joe Arruda of the Hartford Courant reports.

Impact McNeeley comfortably took home the award despite an eight-game absence in the middle of the regular season. The forward averaged 14.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 40/35/86 shooting splits. He all but one game for which he was available. McNeeley has been the driving force what whatever success the Huskies have had in 2024-2025 as they chase a third-straight national title.

Impact McNeeley continues to emerge for the Huskies and is seemingly getting stronger as the season goes on. Since returning from injury in February, the freshman has averaged 19.6 ppg, and he leads UConn in scoring on the year with a 15.4 ppg average. It may be a down year by the program's standards, but the team is still NCAA Tournament-bound, and McNeeley will be a name to watch in March.
